Recommended Posts

LA Kings have re-signed captain Dustin Brown to a 8 year extension.

Brown scored 18 goals and added 11 assists in 46 games with the Kings last season. The 28-year-old forward has amassed 388 career points in 641 NHL games since being selected 13th overall by Los Angeles in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Brown is set to earn $3,175,000 in 2013-14 and was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

One of the few players that honestly deserves an extension like this; he's the heart and soul of that team; clutch player; hits everything that moves - and I think he'll find a way to be an effective NHLer for the Duration of his deal - and likely onward.

With this signing, the Kings are going to have problems filling up their roster with quality players. Next season, supposing the cap remains as is, they will have 56 Million committed to 13 players and not including whatever they give Kyle Clifford. They would only have 10 Million left to sign/re-sign 10 players including Willie Mitchell, Ben Scrivens, Matt Greene and more. I would have to think that someone's going to get dumped this upcoming season. Maybe Robin Regehr.
