Wow Edmonton is going to be in some serious cap trouble soon. In a couple of seasons time, they'll have 30M tied up in just 7 players, and will still need to sign RNH, Yakupov, Hemsky, Joensuu, Schultz and Dubynk who will all ask for raises, not to mention all their depth guys.

Gagne at just under 5M is a joke, hopefully for them they can still fit their true stars in.

A bit of an overpayment but I dont think the oilers had any choice. Either pay him this or lose a 2nd line c and with all the high picks they have accumulated I doubt they could spin it to the fan base that losing him will make a non playoff team better

I think this was the best deal Edmonton could have hoped for. He was a UFA after this season and is only 24 years old.

Still don't think their mix is right. You would have to think that Mac T is still looking to make some moves.

Hemsky is a must trade now.....

Hall-rnh-eberle

Perron-gagner-yakupov

Yak, rnh and Shultz haven't gotten their big money yet so edm best be careful...and they also over paid for gordon so they have 7.8m playing in their 2nd and 3rd line center spot

Bieksa is aging and will take less money on his next contract

The Sedins are aging and will take less money on their next contract.

We will possibly save around $3 million between those 3 contracts with the cap going up. Edmonton on the other hand will have to re-sign their stars to the same or better contracts.

There is no possible way they can afford Yakupov, Dubnyk Schultz, Hopkins, let alone find and sign that true top 2 they need or even fill out their top 4.

Less cap space than Vancouver and paid Gordon $3 million a year to play 4th line duties.

Again that awkward moment when Vancouver has more cap space and more future flexibility than the Oilers
