Apples
Most households in the UK will have pornography blocked by their internet provider unless they choose to receive it, David Cameron has announced. In addition, the prime minister said possessing online pornography depicting rape would become illegal in England and Wales - in line with Scotland. Mr Cameron warned in a speech that access to online pornography was "corroding childhood". The new measures will apply to both existing and new customers. Mr Cameron also called for some "horrific" internet search terms to be "blacklisted", meaning they would automatically bring up no results on websites such as Google or Bing. He told the BBC he expected a "row" with service providers who, he said in his speech, were "not doing enough to take responsibility" despite having a "moral duty" to do so. He also warned he could have to "force action" by changing the law and that, if there were "technical obstacles", firms should use their "greatest brains" to overcome them. ... TOMapleLaughs
Fine with that. Not that it will stop anything, but it's currently far too easy for children to gain access to porn. Google virtually anything unfiltered and it will bring up porn.

RonMexico
I would say that the internet as a whole is 'corroding childhood'.

King Heffy
What happened to parents taking responsibility for their children's online actions. It's not like there aren't numerous third-party options to restrict adult sites already. The next step is the ISPs starting to charge for access to porn. Nothing good can come from this. Xbox
I remember sites like sports illustrated for kids and mapquest. Regular websites, but when you switch that .ca to a .com or vice versa, porn came up. Those 2 sites are long gone but still crazy how easy it is for children to access it. Electro Rock
Police states gonna police. I don't know if any of you guys remember, but back in the '90s we had a serious high level government proposal to subject the internet in Canada to Canadian content regulations, like that was workable or a good idea. Warhippy
But they'll still be able to watch crap like Kardashians, TMZ, My Sweet 16 and dozens of other trashy mind numbing and moral eroding reality tv shows that do as much or more damage to our youth than Porn does. Yes, great way to fight the eroding of morals and the like....
King Heffy
You can watch people get killed on prime-time tv but you can't watch some girl on girl action? Something is seriously wrong with society!

TOMapleLaughs
I think the point is not that it shouldn't be possible to block porn at an ISP level, but that it should be blocked by default and force someone to identify themselves as a (possible) porn watcher to enable it. Lots of big brother stigma attached to that where people might feel they're being targeted for more negative attention because they want to do something legal in their own home.
