viking mama
Luongo will be here for many many many years. He will retire at the age of 42 when the contract is done and his name will be in the rafters amongst the Canucks greatest players. If he wins a cup or two, he will be a shoe in for the HHOF. Primus099
Totally agree with Lupien. Mike Gillis botched this from the get go. The fact that he didn't pull a Gainey and defend his star goalie was also always puzzling to me. Basically left Lui out to dry and MG deserves to lose his job. Canuck Surfer
Well gee, he sure does seem to be glossing over the fact that it was Lu who first said it was time to move on to the media.
Canuck Surfer
This article is out of whack as well, trying to stir up more than even Lou, check this BS; Unable to make the trade he wanted, Gillis had shifted to other drastic measures. He fired coach Alain Vigneault and brought in a coach notorious for slagging his own players in the media, John Tortorella. He dealt the goalie widely presumed to be the Canucks’ new No. 1, Cory Schneider, to the New Jersey Devils for the ninth pick in the June draft, which he then used to take a centre, Bo Horvat of the London Knights. He announced that the goaltender of the future Canucks is, once again, Roberto Luongo."" That was the articles writer, not Lupien whom I quoted. As if firing AV was all about Lou? M A K A V E L I 96
The reason he fired his agent is probably because he was the one who gave him the advice to keep turning down potential trades offers (except FLA). The Panthers are one of the lowest cap spending teams and they obviously can't afford the contract, but they might have some interest in Luongo as a FA. The agent and Luongo thought if they went through with this strategy, the Canucks would be forced to buy him out. He would get paid 2 salaries and sign to a place of his choosing. If the Panthers had any interest in him, they would have wanted this outcome as well.

Blackberries
Holy god and the disciples would you please get your mouth away from Cory's privates and move on. He's playing for another team now, if he's that much of a legend to you then by all means you're more than welcome to cheer on the New Jersey Devils. Riviera82
Great read, thanks for posting... I must say it angers me that RL has been treated the way he has by the media, GMMG, and worst of all by the fans. He is clearly the best goalie to ever play for the Canucks, yet so many people wanted to see him fail..... Im almost embarrased to be a fan by they way hes been treated. Duda
Did you not watch the videos? When it can be heard loud and clear in a huge arena and over the TV it's a little more than "a light smattering of boos". That's the truth. Clearly...
