Tangelos
No thanks we have too many D who can't play D. I want a shutdown D like Green, Scuderi, Mitchell, Regehr...

oldnews
HAHAHAHA! Overspent themselves into a corner, and now poised to lose another undervalued asset. Braincramps galore in Toronto this summer. Bolland, a brand new goaltending controversy, and the farm to Clarkson.... meanwhile Macarthur walks for a bargain of a cap hit for the Senators, they buyout their best two way player, Komarov walks to the KHL, they deal Frattin, and they're poised to move Franson, the best bargain they've found in some time, because they have fumbled repeated times. Hey Toronto - you have no leverage - and it's a buyer's market. Well done. You walked into the summer with cap space and you made a mess of it. higgyfan
Straight up for Schroeder but I dont think Ricky is a Carlyle type guy. Could give them flex leverage in getting Kadri re-signed As for hometown discounts..... Franson has been on record when he was dealt to Toronto that he grew up a Leafs fan

missioncanucksfan
Franson is still only 25/26 and has been slowly improving every year he has been in the league. He is a top 4 guy in Toronto, whether that means anything or not. I havent seen him play as much as the others on here have to see his defensive flaws. Who was his partner last year? I know he isnt the fastest skater but can hammer the puck.... Which is what we also need. Does anyone know what he is asking in regards to compensation? 2.5-3.5/per? missioncanucksfan
Maybe just when Gillis is about to agree on a trade package with Nonis.... Gillis lets Nonis hear the giggling in the background of the conference call. On serious note, Im sure as soon as Franson's name hits the market, there will be a few good offers
Danthecanucksfan
You wouldn't trade Tanev for Franson straight across? Good thing you are not our GM. Talk about over rating Tanev. He is a stay at home solid defensive dman with no offense or physical game. Franson is a physical offensive defenceman who is also decent defensively. No question. If that trade is on the table Gillis should take it and laugh all the way to the bank, especially with Corrado waiting in the wings and a lot of depth dmen still available as cheap free agents for depth. Defencemen like Franson are a lot harder to find and develop than one like Tanev.
Danthecanucksfan
Anyways...I think people are undervaluing Corrado. A d-man that can jump up to pro hockey at 19yrs is going to be a good player. I wouldn't want to see him traded so early.
missioncanucksfan
Agreed. It would have to be one of our forward prospects and a draft pick
Danthecanucksfan
Schroeder and 2nd or 3rd..... Corrado might have to be a sweatener Nonis isnt going to GIVE Franson away
Caboose
If Nonis had chosen to allow Bozak to walk, and bought out Liles instead of Grabovski, we'd have 2.5 million more to offer Franson. Its amazing how for the first time in a decade the future is bright in TO and Nonis fracks it up in one offseason.

Apples
I thought the Leafs had alot of cap space. He really had a great season last year, but I rather have Tanev instead

wallstreetamigo
Talk about underating Tanev and lack of hockey knowledge. The guy has wonderful Hockey IQ, something that CANNOT be taught. A lot of the time he is the calmest guy on the ice, doesn't make many mistakes, and is responsible in his own end. He doesn't put up many points, but he makes up for it with his defensive play and his poise. The Canucks NEED guys like Tanev on the team to back up inconsistent defenders such as Edler. He's a huge piece of our team. Why not add Franson without losing Tanev? It'd I be hard but it is achievable.
cripplereh
I would have liked him in a Luo trade but now NO he is not needed. We have a great D and doubt he would be a big edition to our D men!
