TOMapleLaughs
My concern would be for Staal's career. The hit looked career-impacting. But he says he'll be good to go for camp.
poetica
I don't know what other similar incidents have received, but they should stick to whatever is the normal amount of punishment. What's fair is fair. Frankly, I'm far more concerned with whether or not Edler will actually play like we know he can for the Canucks this year. Mustapha
I never agreed with the assessment of Edler's hit to begin with. As far as I was concerned, it was an unfortunate collision, and had Edler been injured instead of Staal, who knows what the outcome (if any) there would have been. The IIHF should have decided Edler's 'suspension' in full at that time, now they are just hanging it over his head. Doesn't surprise me however, if the IIHF had their way, there would be no bodychecking and everyone would just hold hands in a circle at centre ice. MJDDawg
Take the hockey grind of a long season, then in the middle of it add in travelling half way around the world to play in a pressure packed tournament over a short period of time, then fly back half way around the world only to then get into the stretch drive of the season heading to the playoffs. It's going to be a long season, so I'm OK with it if it happens because it means the Edler can rest his back a bit.
Niklas Jensen
Well, Edler can use a very well known quote from his countrymen MiKael Samuelsson with regards to the IIHF - "they can all go f_*_-U_*_-C_*_-K themselves"

a Fool
Imagine if the NHL treated player safety the way the IIHF did. Keith, Ference et al. would be banned for life.

wshdrvvn
2 things going for him: staal wasn't seriously injured from it, and he doesn't have a history of these kind of incidents. 1 serious thing going against him: IIFH doesn't play around with this kind of stuff.
