Recommended Posts

Sign Tanev1.5m for 3years

Sign Whitney 1.5m for1 year

To Van Darren Helm and Justin Abdelkader and Jordin Tootoo and Brendan Smith

To Det. Alex Edler.

Daniel Sedin Henrick Sedin Alex Burrows

David Booth Ryan Kesler Zack Kassian

Chris Higgins Darren Helm Justin Abdelkader

Jordan Tootoo. Brad Richardson Jannik Hansen

Dale Weise Tom Sesito

Hamhuis Bieksa

Garrison Smith

Tanev Whitney

Weber

Detroit does this trade because they have a log jam at the forward position and they need a Dman.So they get Edler to form a great Swedish pair in him And Kronwall .Vancouver does this because it gives them a great third line center as well as two other forwards and all of a sudden they can score goals in bunches and can be a legit contender once again with great forward depth. All while letting the young guys develop

Breaking it down the deal is,

To Vancouver: Brendan Smith, Darren Helm, Jordin Tootoo and Justin Abdelkader

To Detroit: Alex Edler

Man, seeing Abdelkader and Helm under Tortorella seems too perfect to be true to be honest. I'm guessing DET would want to keep at least 1 of those bottom-six forwards or take one back (Weise?).

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Burrows - Kesler - Booth

Higgins - Helm - Hansen

Abdelkader - Richardson - Tootoo

Sestito

Even though it's a very weird looking deal, the Canucks forwards would be pretty deep.. I mean Abdelkader had 10 goals in 48 games last season. Tootoo could probably put up 20+ on a team like that... Helm of course is a bit of a wild card, since he didn't play much at all last year (1 game), but has proven he can be a speedy, gritty 2-way 25 point 3C.

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Smith - Garrison

Whitney - Tanev

Weber

Not a bad defense, esp. if Ryan Whitney continues to get back to where he was circa 2009. Even last year he paced for 32 points.

Although, I am a little skeptical Whitney would sign such a tiny contract, he might have to if he continues to sit on the market..

Everyone seems to forget that we have good players trying to make our roster every year. Without a Booth trade/buyout our top 6 is set. Factor in Gaunce/Schroeder/Horvat and you have 3 guys battling for 2 spots over the next several years.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Booth - Kesler - Burrows

Higgins - Schroeder - Hansen

Richardson - Santorelli - Weise

Your plan makes gaunce/schroeder/horvat/shinkaruk/santorelli obsolete. We wouldn't have signed any of them if that were the case.
