Big Data Shoes
This guy loves to prove people wrong and you cant underestimate a veteran goalie presence. Not to mention 2. I dont think i am alone when i say that i dont feel comfortable having luongo as our only nhl goalie. We all know about luongos playoff meltdowns. That happened when we had no ongoing reports of him thinking he was getting traded for over a year and he had a steady goalie in schneids who could step in should he stumble. We no longer have that. If he starts to slip, we have lack (injured?) who has never played an nhl game and joacim ericson who has been in EU for awhile. I think thomas and luongo could provide a veteran experienced duo that we can have confidence in. I say sign timmy for 1 year for 1.5m and bonuses if he performs well. I dont think an emotionally scarred luongo with no proven safety net is going to pan out at all.

22Sedinery33
No thank you, I would rather take Bryz and his ideas about the Universe any day over Thomas.
Aladeen
I'd do it, if he signed for cheap and didn't mind being Luo's backup... after talking to Luo first of course. But no way he would sign with us, he would never play for any Canadian team would be my bet, least of all Vancouver. Maybe TO
Niloc009
Every goalie in the history of forever has, at one point, not played an NHL game. It is not a valid reason to not have one of the AHL's best goaltenders in the last 2-3 seasons play as backup. Not to mention he's competing against Joakim Eriksson, one of the best goaltenders playing in Europe. We just got over the goaltender controversy where the two players were friends. Now we want to restart one with two goaltenders with a negative history? Ok.

Big Data Shoes
Exactly. Let the only 'controversy' be the back-up job battle.
avelanch
lack is completely recovered and training already, Eriksson shows great promise and it's not that big of an adjustment for Euro Goalies to come over and play, unlike euro players. the goalie's game isn't as affected as much as the player's game. elvis15
thanks for clearing up the lack part. And is it normal for a goalie to go from europe to the NHL in 1 year? Is he not due for at least a year in Utica?

Big Data Shoes
Victor Fasth and the Monster are some recent examples off the top of my head, but no better example than than Henrik Lundqvist, who went from starting for Frolunda to playing 53 games with the Rangers in successive seasons. Phil_314
I'd say IF he's willing to earn so little and play so few games. For Vancouver. Behind a guy who didn't want to pump his tires either. So yeah, I don't see it. I like the idea of the still-capable veteran backup though, someone like Giguere or what Martin Biron's been doing. (Of course, I wouldn't mind it if Lack, one of the AHL's best, or Eriksson, one of the best overseas goalies, comes in and does what Viktor Fasth did last season). Dilly Canuck
I'd only be intrested if Lu holds out and demands a trade immediately because going with 2 goaltenders with 0 NHL experience scares me, otherwise I'm totally confident in Lack and Eriksson as our potential backups. ilduce39
I think it has to do with avoiding the 3rd sign of the apocalypse which reads - "And lo, the Canucks shall signeth a great nemesis and his play shall be terrible to behold as he is a man of red neck and weak mind." BCNeil
So we have Luongo, with his contract. Lots of bad blood (according to the media anyways) between him and management. Suggestion....sign Thomas as backup....... Why not just key his car
