Is Raymond holding out for Vancouver?

I believe Raymond believes he can still be a Canuck. I also believe he has more than likely turned down offers from other teams so he can try and stay. I do not believe he would be willing to take league minimum in order to stay for if he did, MG would have jumped on that the minute it was an option. Still I think he is waiting for an offer fair to his talents so he can remain with a best friend he was shortly reunited with, and a strong core he has grown up with.

If he signs anywhere between 1-1.5m, sure. But I rather have Tanev back first before we go add anyone else. Plus, he's going to have to compete for a roster spot cuz Torts will definitely want a rookie playing on the team.

Booth-Kesler-Kassian

Higgins-Richardson/rookie-Hansen

Weise-Richardson/rookie/Santorelli-Sestito

Just looking at the lineup, Raymond already will be a scratch on some nights. He's goign to have to earn his roster spot here if he wants to stay in the lineup

I honestly think he is/was a victim of the cap reduction as much as anything else.. with the cap going down so much, teams arent as willing to spend on someone like him

Have always liked Raymond. I am surprised he hasn't been signed, but it is an odd summer - the fact Feaster said something to the effect they don't need a 'Mason Raymond type player' makes me laugh. By that does he mean the Flames don't need anyone who is actually worth his cap hit? What the Flames don't need is a Feaster kind of GM imo...

Would sure love to see Raymond light the Flames up (yet again) after that comment, regardless of who he does it for. He's had a hard time finding the right fit given the makeup of the Canucks lineup, but he's also a player who's not easy to give up on - he got a lot stronger last year, and if that progress continues, Raymond has some good tools.

No thanks, it's better for both sides to let it go. He needs a fresh start somewhere, where he can fit perfectly in the Top 6 group. There are still teams who are still looking for that type of guy. Besides, we have no room for him on the left side. If I was looking to sign a forward, I would look at Brad Boyes who is a right winger. We are pretty weak on the right side compared to our left side and he could fit well here.

Can you say depth??? That would be ridiculous depth. Great third line and awesome 4th line that could be 3rd on most teams. Raymond at 1.5 and Tanev at 1.8 leaves us with 1 mill for one player. Fistric.

The Raymond project should have ended 3 years ago. instead he has been clogging up a roster spot for a potential young gun, which we have already lost one (Grabner).

The Raymond project was been forced upon us due to injuries at the time. He should have been sent back to the AHL after that season for further development, but instead we had AV stunting his development and creativity. Time to move on.
