Wow, really ? How bout we all drop any and all labels in regards to sexual orientation and move on from this ridiculous low brow advertising to get more people to watch an event that may not even go as planned ? I am sure people everywhere are waiting for the moment when all the pretense is dropped and we can all just treat one another as equals. Isn't that what everyone wants ?

Is it so hard to start educating in the home ? Teach love, respect and equality and maybe this ridiculous notion of gays being different will stop ? The world acting like it is a problem we must over come, is the problem ! It is getting quite nauseating.

Public attitudes have changed a lot towards sexual orientation, etc the past few years... and not because people sat quietly at home and hoped things would change on their own.

At best this is a major sign of support for the gay community (especially in Russia) and might even cause a few people to re-think their attitudes. At worst it might enrage the homophobic crowd or annoy the odd person who thinks this is no longer an issue.

Net positive, I'd say.

Human rights are not a political issue, they're a universal issue shared by all people.

However boycotting the games will not do anything. The best thing to do is to have our athletes go over there and discuss the issues. Maybe start a conversation and change the popular opinion.

I agree..that politics should be pushed aside...during this global celebration of sport - which is the Olympics. Hostilities & protests should be suspended. Very ugly politics brought misery to Munich. Don't be encouraging every cause-plugging or banner-carrying entity or terrorist group - to make this upcoming games....some nightmare.

The ironic beauty of the Olympic Games...is that when public protests & politics are suspended... people can gather...& this allows a free exchange of ideas on all kinds of subjects like gay rights, Chechnya & other things. But the exchages are subtle - as the athletes, citizens & visitors meet over meals, on walks, in line-ups, or in beds behind closed doors. This is where the real momentum for change & understanding needs to come from anyway. Terrorists & screamers - who are determined to force or rush the pace of change... often stall-out reforms by creating new & even more hardened resentments.

Don't stall peaceful change and progress....by alienating the masses on the sidelines. Just LIVE and let LIVE...for 20 days next winter. I love how some of the citizens who attended VAN's 2012 Olympic celebrations downtown...quickly squashed or shamed the protesters who briefly tried to grab the spot-light away from the Olympic athletes. A host city...welcomes the world. Guests, who wanna drop-in to slam every foible or mis-step of the host country.....or any of their attending guests, at THIS time...are just rude & ungrateful party-poopers!

I couldn't care less whether you care or not, but fact is, he is not respected by everyone around the league. I'd say people respect the skill set he has as a player, but his attitude is something that still needs changing.
