Amish Rake Fighter
From the perspective that they are contenders/competition to the Canucks, I'm glad they cut that deal.
JeremyCuddles
You're kidding, right? 35-point, 25-minute top pairing dman who hasn't missed a game in forever for $5.4M is overpaid now?
Drouin
He hasn't had 30+ points in 5 years and is a minus player over that span what are you blabbing about?

Carl's Jn
good signing for them. he is still good offensively and offensive defense man are hard to come by these days.
Carl's Jn
Yep. People are forgetting he played good with STL last season and he rarely misses a game.
kloubek
Overpayment, in my opinion. He's a good player for sure, but has been a shell of his former self since going to Calgary. And I don't think he even played *that* well for St. Louis either to warrant this contract. If it was a shorter contract I could see it better, but if I was the GM I'd like to see what he ends up bringing to the table before committing to 5 years at that price. JeremyCuddles
exactly.. bottom line is he's played with crap teams and hasn't had a decent d-man to pair with. First time he's been in the playoffs this year, not to mention he can play 82 games, look at his iron man streak.
Drouin
Wait he had good years with Florida and bad years with Calgary, are you disagreeing with me or what?

Drouin
That's utter nonsense. His partner in Calgary was Giordano, who I'd take over Bouwmeester anyday - hits, blocks shots, scores more (despite 'playing in Calgary, which also means more relative situational advantages) - easily as reliable and valuable as Bouwmeester. oldnews
Bouwmeester had 7 more points, he may have been a - player in Calgary but in St. Louis he was a +
