niklas
If the ticket wasn't on your car, then technically you didn't get a ticket and you don't have to pay for something that wasn't issued to you. I've just ignored.

EoH
Dont pay for it, since its privately owned you dont need too, even if they issue you a ticket. During the time i went to langara, my friend always had multiple tickets from impark, he accumulated around 50 or so each semester and never paid for parking since it was his car (not leased, if its leased, the dealer will take it out of your monthly payment). All they due is issue a letter containing how much you owe each time. It got to the point where he owed around 10 thousand or so in accumulated fines and they sent him a letter stating that he had to pay or else he'll have a lawsuit against him and up to this day he still hasn't paid a cent and never got towed. Point being is private corporations will do squat, they're not going to waste money chasing you, especially in your case, 1 single ticket.

7thMan
Theoretically, couldn't one just claim to have never received a copy of any parking ticket? How can they prove that you were given one?

Offensive Threat
What are you people talking about? The intricate legality of a ticket given to you by a private corporation. You are not legally required to pay this ticket. Ever. This ticket is unenforceable. Its not like it was issued by a Gov agency ( police, meter maid etc.) which carries the weight of law. The Colt 45s
Actually this is not true. Tickets are legal under contract law. Once you enter a private lot you enter an agreement with the owner of the lot. Since you broke the contract, the company can take you to small claims court to recover the cost. Of course, the parking companies never take anyone to court since it is so expensive. They may send your ticket to a collection agency to scare you. Or tow your car should you get another infraction in their lots.
-DLC-
That's basically the same thing that happened to me. Obviously in some busy area's there's a need for this kind of stuff but I swear those crooks handing out the tickets work on commission. When I initially called in to argue it, they tried to convince me that I'd been driving around, in rainy October weather, with a parking ticket flapping around on my windshield for nearly a month. Yet, it was pristine...not a mark on it. I also checked my calendar and hadn't worked that day (on the 2nd) - the parking lot that they'd stuck it on at was my work lot. They ran out of answers pretty quick. I believe the lots covered by these thugs have to have signage indicating the parking regulations and fines associated with that. Diamond has a sign in my local grocery lot - fines of up to $500 for a parking violation. Although - lol "someone" changed the sign to read $5,000,000 which is more reflective of their behaviour. DonLever
The companies always say they will tow your car if you park in their lots again and get another ticket. Has that happened to anyone? I think that is another empty threat. Plus I think you don't have to pay the tolling fee. Its the parking company that have to pay the tolling fee should your car be towed since they are the ones that called in the tow truck.

Lancaster
Just got a ticket after parking at the bank and going to the bank. Got my receipt to prove I was there. Would that be sufficient or could the parking company just go, "too bad, pay up!" or be "nice" by taking 50% off?
Offensive Threat
pretty sure if you park on private property say you park in my driveway I can call a tow truck explain the situation and they will gladly tow the vehicle to there lot and bill the owner when they come to claim there vehicle plus storage fees etc. If the owner refuses to pay the towing company can sell the unclaimed vehicle after a certain amount of time. Ps. This is a good way to get a cheap vehicle. go into any lot and they usually have a list and price of available vehicles for sale.

NightHawkSniper
I wouldn't pay either. I got a ticket but I had clearly paid for the time. Called afterwards and cleared it up. So they do mistakes.
Jimayo
They replied and said the ticket does exist, but due to weather condition or some other reasons, it might not appear on my windowshield. They also sent a pic of the original ticket. (they still having the original copy, meaning I was remembering right: I never got it in the first place.)
