Noise Cancelling headphones

Recommended Posts

Other than the Zik Parrot, does anyone have good recommendations for Wireless (preferably bluetooth) noise cancelling headphones?

Their main use is to listen to music / block out sound while I am out, without the inconvenience of having to connect the headphones to my phone via a cable in order to listen to my music.

Beats are basically the Apple of headphones, overpriced, all about the "status" of having the brand name, but you could get something for a lot cheaper that has the potential to be better.

And go for the 450 x travel, dad has it and he has no complaints

Sennheiser in general is pretty good quality for the mainstream brands that people know. I don't like beats because they're so heavy on the low-end (Subbass and bass). They're commercial leveled headphones, the bass is boosted big time which leaves everything in my opinion a little undesirable for someone like me who makes music.

I just wouldn't recommend beats OR bose unless you don't care too much of what you're getting in sound (Which quite frankly, I do). You should read this article here on the headphones you're looking at. They don't look too bad for noise-cancelling headphones.

But for someone, like me, who listens to a lot of music with bass, should I get it? I mean I already have other headphones that give the same thing almost but I've been meaning to get Beats just for the sake of getting it (lol I know I fit into the stereotype very well).

I listen to a lot of EDM/Progressive House music which is why I'm asking.. I've got the Sennheiser HD439's and they're really comfortable even though they're designed in an odd way. Sound isolating and you can blast your music as loud as you want and nobody will be able to hear it unless they're literally next to your ear.

Sennheisers are one of the best 'mainstream' brands out there from what I've read. I don't own a pair but I've consistently seen good things about them. Beats, from a producers point of view are terrible, as well as bose aren't too great either.

From a listeners perspective though, it could be different. The thing is, with beats, as I said before already, they boost the low-end frequency (bass), so with that, it can be overwhelming. I produce with commercial-grade headphones too because you obviously want your music to sound... Commercial, so you can sell it off, because that's what sells in the end. I also have a pair of producer-grade headphones, and the difference is amazing. It's not that the bass isn't there when you use producer-grade headphones, but it's more leveled with everything else in the songs; a flat frequency response across the spectrum. Beats really over-exaggerate how heavy the bass is with their boosting, but it's all personal preference really, and to some people, they like that over clarity, because bass has a nice warm feeling to it.

I'd recommend listening on any pair of headphones you plan to purchase, find a place to try them out. It's all personal preference. I myself don't like beats because I've become accustomed to a leveled frequency response, so the bass really irks me. As for the AKG K67, once again, read into it, they look alright, nothing spectacular, but they're probably cheaper than beats. I'd just be careful spending money on beats as they are overpriced from the last time I checked.

Also to note, the "Frequency Bandwidth" says 16-24,000Hz, just because it's a bigger number don't think it's better. The human ear for the most part can only hear from 30-20,000Hz.

EDIT: Make sure to look online at the opinions of others too, I won't deny my opinion is a little bias considering where I am coming from.

I've listened in on trying Beats a few times and I like it. THe thing is, it's either the Beats or AKG K67 and I'm undecided on which. Like I said I'm more of an EDM/Progressive House listener and a lot of songs I listen to are somewhat bass heavy to bass heavy..

I'm also not sure what the Frequency Bandwidth means too
