Where's Wellwood
Former Detroit Red Wings player Shawn Burr has died at the age of 47. Burr, who was born in Sarnia, Ont., had been diagnosed with leukemia three years ago. Dave Goetze, who runs the Shawn Burr Foundation, told local media that Burr died Monday night after sustaining massive brain trauma following an earlier fall at his home in St. Clair, Mich. "He was a funny guy ... always had a trick to play," Osgood said. "My first game as a rookie, he put my name upside down on my jersey. He was the guy in the 90s who kept everybody else relaxed."Former Red Wings' goaltender Chris Osgood, whose career overlapped with Burr's final few seasons, told the Detroit Free Press Burr was a "nonstop talker." Burr was drafted seventh overall by the Red Wings in 1984 and played with the team for most of his 16 years in the NHL. He also played for the San Jose Sharks and Tampa Bay Lightning before retiring in 2000. -AJ-
RIP. Looked him up on Hockey-Reference. He was actually pretty decent. Played 878 games and 440 points, including 56 points in 1989-90. It's sad that he's already gone.
