LeanBeef
If Tanev doesn't re-sign how does Engelland sound? -6'2 -202 lbs -plays the right side -solid positionally -Somewhat physical (70 hits last season) -Great fighter -solid shot blocker -great 6/7 defenseman -Can keep other teams tough guys honest (See Lucic) Hamhuis-Garrison Edler-Bieksa (don't really like this pairing but not many options) Alberts*/Corrado-Engelland Alberts-Engelland can be an extremely physical pairing that's hard to play against. With Despres, Eaton, and Bortuzzo showing that they can be effective NHL defensemen, Engelland seems to be expendable to the Pens. What will it take to get him? CanucksFanMike
I would give up no more than a 5th round pick.
мeтpо
He has a mean streak. I wouldn't be against this at all. I still hope we can get something out of Tanev if he doesn't want to re sign.

LeanBeef
yeah but that was a few years ago. If you look at some of the deadline deals this past year for depth defencemen usually teams have to give up a 4th or 5th.
bigpush
Pittsburgh is in cap trouble, currently 1M over with 23 guys signed, Niskanen would be my target though.

Pears
This. Engellend is extremely cheap so doubt he would be moved. I bet Niskanen could be had for a 3rd and decent prospect or a 2nd though...
мeтpо
Pittsburgh needs some forward prospects so maybe one of our C grade prospects and a 3rd? Maybe after that trade Bieksa for some help up front and sign Pietrangelo to an offer sheet? Dreaming is fun.
ILL BILL NECRO
I have always liked Engellend, would love to see him here.....
Warhippy
Engelland is worth a b level prospect and 5th-7th round pick at his cap hit. He does everything on the ice and is solid defensively. And as for a pugilist, the guy will drop the mitts with anyone and usually win. Something we've not had since Rypien. Love to see him here. As for Niskanen...ya i'd seriously consider parting with a 2nd rounder and a decent forward prospect for him.
harmer
I doubt the pens trade him because he is a bargain and he brings everything to the table. I would rather have him than Tanev. He is exactly what we need a big tough crease clearing dman
