Lui's Knob
Here's our dmen depth... Improved from last year? Worse? Bieksa Hamhuis Edler Garrison Tanev Alberts Weber Corrado Sauve Andersson Tommernes Polasek Blain If there's injuries I think we are in trouble but top 8 are decent... -Vintage Canuck-
Lost: Keith Ballard, Derek Joslin, Cam Barker. Gained: Yannick Weber. But players like Corrado and Tanev are continuously improving. I would say, it's about the same from last year. But I really miss our D Core from 2011. Shinkaruk_9
When the season comes along, one can only hope we have enough depth lol. We always have injury problems, but I think we should be good to roll!
TOMapleLaughs
Forgot Jim Vandermeer. I hope Edler rebounds. imho Torts and Co. will have the group playing tighter regardless of who's in and who's out.

fanfor42
From 2011 lost Ehrhoff, Salo and Rome. Replaced them with Garrison, Tanev and Corrado. So we haven't got back to 2011 level. However, this year could be better than last if Hamhuis has a boost in confidence from Olympic camp selection, Edler plays to his potential and Tanev and Corrado make strides. Weber likely to disappoint.

DownUndaCanuck
Looks like we snagged Tanev and Alberts for a combined 2.1M, leaving around 2M in cap space. The Canucks need more defensive depth this season with Tortorella's system bound to take a physical toll, especially on our top-4. With Fistric and Murray snatched up, here are the remaining defensive UFAs we should give a good look at. Ryan Whitney Tom Gilbert Ron Hainsey Filip Kuba Ryan O'Byrne Greg Zanon Steve Eminger Some of those guys (Zanon, O'Byrne, Eminger) are bigger, play very physically and are great shot-blockers who would fit in Tortorella's system nicely. Others (Kuba, Hainsey, even Hal Gill) are more veteran-like who we definately need to calm our nervous younger guys and help groom Tanev and Corrado. With 2M there's no reason why we can't grab two of them, say O'Byrne for 800K and Hainsey for 1M. Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Garrison Hainsey - Tanev O'Byrne Alberts Weber Corrado Obviously Weber and Corrado spend most of their time on the farm, but injuries will happen - we'll probably end up in the season at some point with 3 defencemen out at once which is when this depth will be called upon. fanfor42
For Ben Stiller. I respectfully disagree. This year's D is not as good yet as the 2011 edition. Wishful thinking to think otherwise. However, as I said, they may well be an improvement on last year - which addresses the OP's question.

ilduce39
We're better off than a lot of teams but we do miss a true PP QB since Erhoff left... unless Torts and his staff can get more out of what we have. It's splitting hairs though as it's our top-6 that we're going to live or die by this year.
Light Bearer
Liked the Alberts signing at 600k. He adds some jam to our backend, which we sorely need in spades.

Brick Tamland
Better with Torts and crew in charge. He will get more out of these guys, whether they like it or not. I think Bieksa could be in trouble.
