-Vintage Canuck-
@Bob_Stauffer The #Oilers have placed Toni Rajala on unconditional waivers @Bob_Stauffer When a player is placed on unconditional waivers it means that he will be bought out... @Bob_Stauffer A clarification. When a player goes on unconditional waivers like Rajala...usually it means a mutual termination of a contract not buy-out Little surprising. Speculation is he wants to go back and play in Europe. Maybe has a deal in place. He also put up some good numbers last year: Toni Rajala Right Wing Born Mar 29 1991 -- Parkano, Finland Height 5.10 -- Weight 163 -- Shoots L Selected by Edmonton Oilers round 4 #101 overall 2009 NHL Entry Draft --- Regular Season --- ---- Playoffs ---- Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM GP G A Pts PIM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2008-09 Ilves Tampere SM-li 21 2 3 5 0 3 0 0 0 2 2009-10 Brandon Wheat Kings WHL 60 26 37 63 24 15 4 3 7 8 2010-11 Ilves Tampere SM-li 44 9 13 22 4 2011-12 Ilves Tampere SM-li 51 16 13 29 24 -- -- -- -- -- 2012-13 Stockton Thunder ECHL 29 18 20 38 10 -- -- -- -- -- 2012-13 Oklahoma City Barons AHL 46 17 28 45 16 17 4 12 16 8 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rey
Back when he was 15 or so, he was considered the next Crosby. Over in Finland, they call him the Finish Crosby. It's too bad that fins aren't that big. Back in 08, they were saying how Rajala and Granlund would put the Fins back on the map.

DeNiro
I remember when some fans were pushing for us to draft this guy in the third round. Seems like he would have provided just as much use to us as Connauton.

Intoewsables
Odd move. Why buy him out when they could retain his rights and loan him out this season? If you need the contract space, buy out Ben Eager instead. I guess it depends on whether it's an issue with playing in the AHL or just wanting to go home, but if it's the former I wouldn't be surprised if someone else picks him up.
