TOMapleLaughs
Somebody on LTIR? They have only $2.1mil in cap space, so a Subban-type deal won't be enough.

Nuxfanabroad
Every team that was half decent is in cap trouble with the exception of the Nucks and a couple others. Few people in Van seem to acknowledge that we dodged a huge bullet as the NHL's lockout was not for a single year of savings but for a redistribution of talent in the league. SamJamIam
That's a good 'big picture' analysis, Nate. We were pinched this year but with the cap likely making a large jump next season, estimates have it growing by about $6 mil, and with very little to do in the offseason aside from resigning the twins we will be in good shape on FA day. Combining our already signed players with another year of development from our recent stock of young talent, we are going to be in a good position to make a blockbuster trade or FA signing. This was a one year blip for the Canucks where we aren't suffering too badly at all. Despite others assessment, I think the immediate future looks bright. Nuxfanabroad
There's a rich schadenfreudian pleasure in seeing Slats forced into tap dancing in a mine field, all due to his steep FA acquisitions & impulsive trades of late. Now he has to heed that parity-enhancing salary cap/new CBA. Looks good on him.
