mpt
MoJo has more points than both of them. Mojo was playing behind a lot of good players in Washington, Kadri and Cody were playing behind no one (unless you think Bozak is worth talking about). MoJo on an off night is significantly better defensively than Cody and Kadri.

DrChill
Good for him, I think bridge contracts are important, I just wish he signed on with Vancouver ;-)
sampy
Mojo spent most of last season playing with Ovie and Backstrom so what you said isn't entirely true.
TOMapleLaughs
Yeah this has no affect on Kadri and Coho. Not as much as Henrique's deal anyway. Johansson had another ho-hum season, was on the block, and there were no takers. He was lucky to get 2 years. But it's GMGM, who is not good. theminister
He started the year horribly and was a huge minus through 15 games and wound up on Oates' doghouse but really turned his year around late. He's a good defensive player, though fairly soft on the body, but he has an emerging offensive game. Considering how inconsistent his season was, this deal makes sense for both parties. If Johanssen can make himself a mainstay on the top 6 this will have been a good deal for both sides. He's a reasonably priced option, who is flexible positionally, which encourages the Caps to keep him around while they wait for Kuznetsov.
Plum
Fair deal. Not a steal or overpayment.

-Vintage Canuck-
Capitals’ Johansson will play on line with Ovechkin, Backstrom: Saturday has turned out to be a pretty good day for Marcus Johansson. Not only did the Washington Capitals announce they had re-signed the restricted free agent to a two-year, $4 million deal, but head coach Adam Oates confirmed Johansson will play on the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and some guys named Alex Ovechkin. “He’s got a great opportunity to start with two great hockey players,” Oates told CSN Washington. “It’s a good situation, where the coaches like him, the GM likes him and he’s got an opportunity in the next couple years to prove he can be a dominant player in this league and then you get rewarded if you succeed.” Johansson, Backstrom and Ovechkin have previous experience playing together. They were united in the latter half of last season and the results were as impressive as they were instant. Johansson scored six goals and 22 points in 34 games, although 19 of those points came after March 16 with Ovechkin and Backstrom. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/07/capitals-johansson-will-play-on-line-with-ovechkin-backstrom/
