Good on Brodeur to pump Luo's tires for the spot on Team Canada

The more interesting part in this article talks about how New Jersey is going to make way for Schneider to start the game in Vancouver. You can bet Schneider must have asked for it.

Schneider wants to prove Vancouver management wrong.

Luongo wants to prove he's a better goalie.

Two good friends face each other for the first time.

It's definately going to be a dramatic match up.

Brodeur’s No. 1 choice for Canada’s goalie: Luongo

Team Canada has plenty of choices when it comes to its No. 1 goalie for the 2014 Winter Olympics, butMartin Brodeur says his country should go with the guy who grabbed the starting gig (and credit for the gold) from him in 2010: Roberto Luongo.

That’s the word from the Bergen Record’s Tom Gulitti on Sunday, as the New Jersey Devils understandably have the Vancouver Canucks’ goalie in mind since the two teams play on Tuesday.

(For the record, Brodeur has stated that he’d like to be a member of Team Canada as well, even in a secondary role.)

With little surprise, Brodeur will play against the Oilers in Edmonton on Monday to make space for Cory Schneider to face his former team the Canucks in Vancouver on Tuesday.

It all shows that both Devils goalies have battled it out with Luongo for reps – one on the international level, the other in the NHL – yet both still respect the noted Twitter humorist.

Those two games kick off a five-game road trip for New Jersey, so all distractions aside, the Devils’ two netminders need to start piling up some wins.

I just thinking about it in terms of a sportsman. As a competitor, no matter how much of a nice guy a person is, when it comes time to compete, they muster up all the motivation they can get to win that game. Especially against friends.

Actually, I would bet that Schneider didn't ask. I would bet that DeBoer planned it that way without Schneid's input at all.

I would also bet that Schneider is not trying to prove management wrong. He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy. He probably gets that Gillis had no choice when he wasn't able to trade Luongo. They just couldn't keep carrying both goaltenders, especially with the cap going down. It's not like they traded him because of his game play.

How is Vancouver Management wrong? They spend the better of a year and a half trying to trade Lou and keep Schneider.

Lou is the one who needs to prove Management the teams that felt he had no trade value wrong.
