The Florida Panthers have fired head coach Kevin Dineen and his coaching staff.

The Panthers have named Peter Horachek Interim Head Coach, and added former team captain Brian Skrudland and Stanley Cup winner John Madden as assistant coaches. Skrudland is a member of the original Panthers team that entered the league in 1993, and was the team's first captain.

Lol what a joke of a franchise..really tallon what did u think would happen signing a bunch of tweeners that had career years and throwing your prospects into the fire right away.

You could have had a real goalie that woukd have made you competitve and all it would have required was a few prospects and a pick.

How different would their fortunes be if they had traded Luongo for Bjugstad or another decent (but not elite) prospect. They would probably actually be a decent team. We would certainly have bitten on something like that.

Add to that, having a player like Luongo who wants to be there and has good name recognition in their community and it would help the ticket sales too.

Sometimes the trade you don't make is worse than risking losing a trade.

Maybe it will happen in the offseason if Luongo decides he still wants out and we have eaten another year of his high (actual dollar) salary. We would then have to have Torts go hard to help land Lundqvuist.

Panthers needed more than Luongo to be competitive.

Whoever's Buffalo coach is.. I thought they'd be gone.

I mean 7 points in 18 games? Buff is a complete joke

Where have you been? Everybody in Buffalo and most users on this message board have been saying the same thing for quite some time. The Sabre's owner and it's top executives have yet to make one good decision since the team was bought 2 1/2 years ago.

The only saving grace when it comes to Darcy Regier (The GM) is that he gets good value on his trades and is a decent drafter, and even he needs to go. Sabres fans have been chanting "Fire Darcy" at home games for this whole season and even part of last season.
