[Proposal] VAN-NYR, VAN-CBJ

Zoolander

Recommended Posts

To VAN:

Dan Girardi

Carl Hagelin

To NYR:

Alex Edler

3rd rd pick

NYR reasoning:

Dan Girardi has thus far had a horrible season under Alain Vigneault, and is a pending UFA. He could test free agency and be lost for nothing. Edler's presence on the blueline would be a huge upgrade offensively as well as physically over Girardi, not to mention he's locked up long term and knows AV's system. Hagelin is the major piece NY is giving up, but with J.T Miller, Danny Kristo and Kreider entering the NHL, Hagelin could be expendable. Not to mention Rick Nash will be returning soon to give NYR a boost up front

To VAN:

Brandon Dubinsky

To CBJ:

Brendan Gaunce

Jordan Schroeder

Roster, when healthy:

Sedin-Sedin-Kesler (Beast MoDo)

Hagelin-Dubinsky-Burrows (Fast, skilled wingers with a gritty, 2-way centre)

Higgins-Santorelli-Hansen (An absolutely crazy energy line that will fight for every loose puck)

Archibald-Richardson-Kassian (prominent 4th line, with size, skill and youth)

Hamhuis-Bieksa

Garrison-Tanev

Stanton-Girardi

Lu

Lack

This line-up is grittier, more balanced and harder to play against. Hagelin, Girardi and Dubinsky all know what Tort's system is like and have played very well under it. We keep our 3 best forward prospects, as well as our 1st and 2nd in this year's draft. Alex Grenier has also improved his game a lot and offers a more offensive game than Gaunce does (he's also one of the only (+) players on the Comets.

These players aren't superstar players like Gaborik, E.Kane or Lucic but they will fill holes in our line-up for a price that doesn't cost us our future, and looking at that line-up....I'd choose that line-up with those 3 players over a line-up with E.Kane, or Gaborik in it any day of week if it meant we didn't lose Horvat, Shinkaruk or our other future stars.

Why does CBJ do this trade?

And Booth ?

edit: just checked out CBJ's section at HFboards and they have a thread going Best & Worst after 16 games, most people have Dubinsky rated as their best forwards so yeah, CBJ doesn't do this trade unless a lot more is going back their way
