(Rumour) Canucks may go after Goc

Don't know how valid the source is, but take it for what it's worth.

"The Vancouver Canucks are in need of a trade and Florida Panthers centre Marcel Goccould be a player they could target—that is according to the Province’s Jason Botchford.

He suggests the Canucks need to make trade for a forward that will actually improve the team citing the failed Samuel Pahlsson and Derek Roy trades.

Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds and Buffalo Sabres forward Steve Ott are high on the Canucks list, but their $3.975 million and $2.95 million cap hits are too expensive to fit under the cap.

Botchford concludes Goc would be the best fit with the Canucks:

The best fit, depending of course on what Tortorella thinks, appears to be
, the $1.7 million centre in Florida. The Panthers may be eager to make moves but seem in no rush to trade the cheap, minute-chewing forward.

Acquiring Goc would give the Canucks another centre, which is something they desperately need with the apparent permanent move of Ryan Kesler to right wing.

However, don’t count on Goc anchoring the Canucks second line. He is not a noted offensive player with 161 points in 507 games, so he’ll be more of a third line centre.

It will allow Brad Richardson to centre the fourth line, but aside from that, there wouldn’t be much benefit."

I think Goc would be an alright 3rd/4th liner. Not a goal scorer, but solid defensively.
