BC Ferries new plan

Looking at the drinking thing from a logistics point of view...

I'm not sure how often you folks use the ferry, but if one car gets stuck on the deck it creates a delay.

If you serve alcohol on the ferry there's an increased likelihood someone will be unable to drive off, or cause issues when attempting to drive off. Each drunk driver would need to be escorted off the ferry and have their car towed off. If just one person over-drinks you've got a substantial delay on top of any already existing malfunctions.

Not a good idea.

it is no more likely to see an old car that failed to start up and jam the deck.. So what's next? stop people from getting on board if they drive an old car because there is a possiblity that it would jam the deck?

If you want to stop a drunken person from jamming up the deck, the solution lies on monitored selling of alcohol, not to completely throw out the idea because there may be a chance something would happen.

The bottom line is, serving alcohol or gambling on the ferry will boost revenue and can be part of the solution of the financial problems of the BC ferries. It's not like they are trying to serve crack cocaine on the ferry that would cause chaos. We are talking about serving limited amount of alcohol on the ferry so friends can sit down and have a casual drink so time will pass faster.

With the help of you good folks here, I hope to change that!

Oh, I don't disagree there are better methods. Problem is they require, imagination, detailed planning and execution (which is the short-term investment which usually throws a wrench into the whole thing despite the long-term savings/earnings being far greater, elected terms don't last forever you know), good governance, quality assurance, etc.

Hopefully more people start to realize that and vote accordingly.
