-Vintage Canuck-
@TysonGiuriato #Canucks prospect Dane Fox had one goal for the @ErieOtters tonight. Now has 90 points (55-35-90) in 53 games.

Derp...
I don't know if anyone has posted this, but Hockey's Future gave him a ranking of a 6.0 C prospect... I luled, at the 6.0 ranking he's at least a 6.5. Not really important, but thought I was interested to see what they gave him.

tas
Only has 4 in his last 10. #dryspell it wasn't a criticism. but when you've scored at a pace of 1.3 goals per game throughout a season and then drop down to 0.4 goals per game for a ten game stretch, that's considered a cold stretch. Yah, just reminds you that just because Fox is a goal scoring machine right now is no way a guarantee that he'll be anything at the NHL level. Agreed, but Fox has a good chance with his shot.
theilluminati
You have to wonder if the Connor & Connor (McDavid & Brown) "affect" is why Fox is having this great offensive season. His #'s/story are very similar to Marc-Antoine Pouliot. Pouliot had a couple of good seasons in the Q and was drafted in the first round in 2003 and had another good season in '03-'04. But as an overager in '04-'05 he got a new linemate and proceeded to score 40 more points than his previous best year. That linemate he got was Sidney Crosby in Rimouski who everyone knows McDavid is being compared to. Pouliot's NHL career never really took off and he's no longer in the league. Food for thought when evaluating prospects who suddenly have a hot season, especially one that was passed over in the draft.

Lecavalier was the Budding superstar and Brad Richards was just benefiting from having him on the team. Long story short the lightning stole him and Lecavalier in the same draft and Richards arguably made a bigger impact on the lightning.
Ossi Vaananen
At worst I'd compare the stacked Otters team to that of the 06-07 London Knights, a team headed by a top line of Kostitsyn - Gagner - Kane. Patrick Kane was of course the leading scorer on that team, and the first overall pick in 07. Gagner was also in his draft year, and posted impressive numbers beside Kane that never really transitioned to the NHL. In this scenario, Kane represents McDavid, Gagner one of Brown/Burakovsky, and Kostitsyn as the overager in Fox. Kostitsyn was in his 19th year, while his linemates were both draft eligible. His point totals were also ridiculous in 06/07, scoring 40 G and 91 A in 59 games. In comparison, Fox in his overager year now has 55 G and 35 A for 90 points in 53 games. I believe that since Fox is more of a scorer, that his incredible shot translates better to the NHL, than Kostitsyn passing to his talented teammates. Kostitsyn, due to injury problems and a lucrative contract in Russia, did not stay in NA, but his 176 points in 353 (0.5 ppg) games is rather impressive for a 7th round pick. Even if we only get the Kostitsyn of the Otters' powerhouse line, we didn't fair too badly for a FA signing. I however, believe that Fox's potential is much higher, as he is more of a scorer and less reliant upon teammates in this respect. EDIT: Here are the two team statistic pages to better illustrate my point: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0008142007.html http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0008792014.html

Can't complain with that.
