CSS 2014 MID TERM RANKINGS-Sam Bennett number 1

I think CBS list is worst than Button's one.

TSN's list is usually the more accurate, maybe not in term of actual talent, but in the actual order they will end up getting pick.

No way Ekblad and Reinhart don't get picked with the first two. Maybe one of them could fall to #3. But after the WHJC I would have thought Ekblad stock would have skyrocketted.

I think it's good to have this separate thread.

That being said, I agree with Reinhart being out of the top 3, but Ekblad as low as 3 is a little insulting. The consensus is Ekblad, Dal Colle, Draisatl, Reinhart and Bennett are the top 5. Outisde of that is Kapanen and Fleury being possible upsets.

It looks like someone took a blender to the European rankings, I'm seeing Bengtsson at 74 after what was a pretty good performance with Sweden at the WJC, and Griger at 87 is a head-scratcher after he was a part of that dominant Reway - Griger - Dano line for the Slovaks at the WJC. It seems the European rankings could be had.

Of note is the lack of defensemen in the top 30, which is the position I was hoping we could draft this year.

Reinhart and Ekblad are tanking to get away from the Oilers. More than one can play this game ...

I would try and position myself where I wanted to play. It would be incredibly difficult to make it work but you could ball park potentially, and tell the team that you want to play there at the combine

Way different. This is the ranking, yours is is what the nucks need.

I regularly post the draft rankings as well, don't worry I am not a hey lock this I did it first guy. Room for all. But I only manage the first 90 picks 3 rounds into that thread and usually buttons rankings

A lot of 5 footers in this draft.

Well atleast on the NA side.

Check out the following D men and the bios associated with them

Adam Ollas Mattsson

Alexis vanier

Ryan Mantha (cannot find stats on him)

Ryan Collins

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=160545

Alex Lintuniemi

and of course Alex Tuch

Those are all hulking frigging monsters, 3 of which can actually skate very well. Players I would draft in a heartbeat to shore up a smaller sized group of d prospects

Seen him he was a solid shut down force in the world juniors, not a huge point getter but so frigging mobile and that size WOW

He would have to enter the draft though wouldn't he?

Prospects don't have to enter the draft, their rights are automatically available once they become draft eligible.

I don't know how the euro's are playing but one thing to realize is most scouts put more weight in how players play for their club teams vs the WJC...at the worlds they are playing with all elite players and sure its good to see how they compete but it can also inflate their stats...

How they play with a mix of talent matters more because if they outperform there then its likely the player is a stud because he is playing with weaker players (sure its against less talent but its over a much longer period so consistency can show itself or not).

This may be the reason...basically the WJC is great as a way to adjust players at the margin but a great or poor performance generally only makes a small difference (ie think Draisatl - he's still highly ranked and had a poor showing). Also playing in europe vs the chl is a big factor. If a european player is playing in the OHL and putting up big numbers its different bc the OHL is considered to be the toughest league talent wise....
