For everyone saying that Ott doesn't improve this team have you not watch the last 3 seasons of playoffs. What did you notice? That when playoffs start and the whistles are put away this team get knocked and pushed over. Are team then becomes a perimeter team which means we get no offence. Ott is exactly what this team needs, someone that can crash and bang and drive the puck to the net. Open up room for the rest of the team.

Everyone wants a top 6 goal scorer but:

A ) The cost of a sniper is way more than we can afford to give up

b ) A sniper does you no good when you can’t drive to the net.

Our team has the talent to put the puck in the net, teams just know how to shut our offense down in the playoffs by keeping us to the outside. In the LA,BOS, SJ series we had zero drive to the net life was easy for the goalies as there was no traffic and no greasy rebounds from all the outside shots. Hence why Booth and Kassian we brought in.

Is Ott the answer that puts us over the top? No, no single player in this league is for us, but he does make us a way tougher team to play against.

Grenier/Archibald + 2nd/3rd? Not really sure if I'd trade for him.

No way he's worth a 2nd but he will probably fetch a 3rd and a low ceiling prospect.

I think I also heard BUF was trying to re-sign him, so he might not even be available.

It would be nice if we could get him and Moulson though without giving away our 1st or any top end prospects.

Here how I would have the line up.

Some how I don’t think that fits in under the cap.

This is worse than half of the Ballard/Raymond trade suggestions...

Not at all. Just wait until the deadline and see the return that he gets.

The demand for Ott at the deadline will be ridiculously high. Is he worth that much? Nope. Will he get that much? Definitely.

Cheap contract for a solid all-around player who isn't elite, but doesn't have a single hole in his game. Also, one of those players that all contending teams wish that they could have. Supply and demand.

This is why the Canucks shouldn't go after him. They aren't contenders even with Steve Ott on their team and Gillis shouldn't mortgage the future. Hopefully the Canucks can add a few picks instead of trading them.
