from that criteria the redwings... but the city itself Is a nightmare

never understood why free agents want to sign there

Detroit is unquestionably the crappiest most crime ridden city in America.

im glad/surprised no rich athletes has been robbed/murdered there recently..

Just youtube Detroit, and you get a taste for yourself what craphole it Is. Most 3rd world countries are far superior to it.

Every free agent used to sign with the Rangers?

What a tradition; Chris Drury, Val Kamensky, Bobby Holik, Darius Kasparitus, Scott Gomez, Wade Redden! :towel:

And Philly, class or not will never have trouble getting free agents after signing, "Why you hef to be mad"", Bryzgalov!

:bigblush:

This is such an ignorant, media fed statement. The actual city of Detroit has suffered from horrible political leadership but the Detroit Metropolitan Area is very nice and economically stable. There are some amazing suburbs in the region and it's actually a pretty nice place to live and raise a family. Michigan is a beautiful state as well.

The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn is as cool a place as anywhere.

The sports culture in Detroit is also great. Within an hour you have Michigan and Michigan State to go along with the four major sports teams. There are lots of other mid major colleges as well that have respectable sports programs. The Wings and Tigers probably have the greatest owners in all of sports in Mike and Marion! And Detroit really is a hockey town. Hockey in Michigan is huge. Just look at all the junior, college and minor pro teams.

The quoted statement is clearly wrong. And the actual city of Detroit is changing quickly and for the better. The crime rate and murder rate are both dropping substantially.

Do some research before you make such blanket statements.

While I agree with you in a way because every city even bad ones has nice areas... he isn't speaking complete untruths.

I don't know where they stand now but all of a year ago Detroit had the highest violent crime rate in the entire USA. Included the highest murder rate and the highest aggravated assault and it wasn't like they were slightly in first they were much higher than many of those other high rated cities. If this is a pleasant place than you can make that statement for every city in the entire USA.
