Smashian Kassian
Bennett is going to be solid though. In all 3 zones. I don't think he has an overt weakness. He reminds me of Ryan O'Reilly or Patrice Bergeron, as a mold. He reminds me of Duchene. He would be a great pick if we could get him, I doubt he falls though. theminister
For sure. As a Canuck fan and having the highest pick since the sedins I'd rather take a shot at elite high end talent than just a solid player. Agreed. Which is why I've been saying Nylander is the best pick at 6th. But I expect Ritchie and I'm fine with that. I think he too could be a 1st liner with the right line mates, if he gets close to his ceiling. He reminds me of Duchene. He would be a great pick if we could get him, I doubt he falls though. I think he's a little dirtier on the defensive side of the game. More well rounded so he's a 'safe' a pick as can be had for forwards. I'm not sure of an offensive ceiling. I think it will be a touch behind Duchene. Not far off though. If he falls before 3rd I'll be shocked.
Plum
Duchene isn't that good defensively so I'm not quite sure about Bennett comparisons to Duchene on the defensive side.

Smashian Kassian
Duchene isn't that good defensively so I'm not quite sure about Bennett comparisons to Duchene on the defensive side. He's a solid two-way player, but it was more of a style comparison. I think he's a little dirtier on the defensive side of the game. More well rounded so he's a 'safe' a pick as can be had for forwards. I'm not sure of an offensive ceiling. I think it will be a touch behind Duchene. Not far off though. I don't think he's as good offensively as Duchene either, but who knows he might be, he had 12 more points in the same amount of games as Duchene had in his draft year. baumerman77
Drafting at 6th we are likely drafting a third line player, possibly a second liner, highly unlikely a first liner. I don't think players like Nylander or Ehlers would make good third liners.

baumerman77
Thats great logic... I am just saying people are getting carried away thinking this draft pick will produce a first liner. They want to roll the dice on a guy like Ehlers or Nylander who have less than a 20% chance of becoming a top line player.

If I was a scouting staff I look at the player not the numbers.

Watermelon
My choices are go in this order: Any of the "top 5", Nylander(His skill is too good to pass up) and then Virtanen(Guys a beast at 17)
baumerman77
that number seems entirely arbitrary. http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/scott_cullen/?ID=267960 Considering this is a weaker draft and both Ehlers and Nylander are smaller players I think the 20% estimate is fairly accurate. Outsiders
my order with the 6 overall pick 1) anyone that falls from the top 5 2)Nick Ritchie (if we draft him we dont need to worry about size in the next 2-3 years) 3) Jake Virtanen ( Skill can't be taught, defence and sharing the puck can. Beast at 17 (he's a brick) A side note i wouldnt mind Carolina's pick at 7 as well having the 6th and 7th pick be crazy Ritchie and Virtanen (WOW)

Derp...
Well you could take Virtanen over Ritchie based on when he was born. I'm estimating this thread gets to 223 by draft day. Which is insane... IF we took all the time people spend on CDC and used it to make something cool, we would have something cool. It's impossible but I thought it would be interesting to know how many man hours people spend on CDC.
CANUCKS FTW!
I think Ehlers and Nylander are the most skilled forwards in this draft. We need to draft either Ehlers or Nylander.

Ok so tell me what will happen if we pass on Virtanen and he turns into a star player? The media will go all nutty. I want Ritchie, but I wouldnt be shocked if they take Virtanen.
