At 24 would love to see Roland mckeown of the Kingston. Mobile offensive dman something we lack since the departure of ehrohoff. Future 24 min top pairing dman

I'd rather Travis Sanheim if we were going to select a D at 24th.

Really depends if we take Fleury at 10. If we do, I would say no to drafting more D at 24, take a steal of a forward, like we did with Hunter

Yeah I agree with drafting a forward at 24. Nikita Scherbak might be worth a gamble. He played for one of the worst teams in the CHL. Led them in points by a wide margin and in Plus/Minus. 6'2" prospect that could really fill out.

everyone should join the dal collie bandwagoning team.... the Canucks will pick him if any of the first 5 teams pass up on him

Dal Colle + Jensen = Cup Champs for Vancouver in 2-3 years once Dal Colle spends a yr or two with Oshawa

At 24 if we got a pick around then I would say Sherbak, Bleackley, Vrana are likely available. If someone drops like Milano, or Tuch take them, if Fiala is around I take him as well. I also like Kempe in that spot, but I really liked Bleackley's game at the U18's. Fast physical forechecker.

Sherbak would be solid, I would also be intrigued if we picked Goldobin. A gamble for sure, but the kids got skill.

This is unrealisitc but what if Anaheim trades their 10th pick, 24th pick, and one of Vatanen/Rakell for the first overall? Would you trade Kesler for 1st overall?

It helps all three organizations.

Florida has a solid chance to grab Kapanen/Ehlers at 10. They also get the 24th, along with their 32nd, to pick up some decent prospects or trade to move up into the the 11-20 picks. Vatanen/Rakell are pretty good prospects, as well, but maybe another player will need to be added.

Anaheim does this because they can either pick up Reinhart or Ekblad, both of whom fulfill a organizational need, or offer that first overall for Kesler who can help an aging Getzlaf and Perry now.

Vancouver gets the 1st overall and pick a great prospect in Reinhart/Draisaitl/Ekblad to continue to build the foundations of the future. Might have to add a second/third round pick to make it happen though.

What do you think?

I was kinda hot & cold on Nylander. Unsure about some things, while really loving his offensive ability.

This showed alot though, I wouldn't mind him at all at our pick, my 1B now. Him or Ehlers for me, either would be good.

nylander did well so far at combine? do you have a link or results SK? this excites me. seeing all the swedes on ourteam along with our lack of scoring he could be our guy. I to was 50/50 on him but if he dis well at combine that will put alot of my concerns to rest.

also whats intriguing about draisatle and nylander is that they can play in the AHL next year.

Sure Ehlers had 30 more points. But 70% he was playing against the second best forward line and the second best defensive pairing. According to your statement that he spent 70% of his time without Drouin who would have obviously had to face the other teams top players. Ritchie on the other hand had to play against the other teams top forwards and dmen game in and out.

Sure Ehlers has more skill than Ritchie at the junior level and if the Canucks were a junior team I would pick Ehlers. But the fact is the Canucks play in the NHL which demands different attributes to succeed. If Ehlers weight (162) is accurate as reported by the combine he will not be able to implement his skill at the NHL level without at least 20 pounds of muscle. Assuming his height is 5'11 and his weight is 162 he would likely be considered an ectomorph body type good luck trying to put 20 pounds of muscle on in 5 years while playing hockey.

What it boils down to is that you don't draft players on what they have done you draft them based on what they could do at the NHL level.

So is Malkin any less of a player because he plays on the same team as Crosby?

I don't know about that.

What you described sounds more like Fleury to me.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, like the upside in him definitely but there are/were concerns, this definitely helps those though. I wouldn't be disappointed by any means to see him come off the board at #6.
