I have nothing against small players. Most of those players you just named, were drafted not with a 1st round pick and or signed as free agents. (St.Louis Zucerrelo undrafted players) I did mention I am hoping Josh Hosang can be available at 36, (5'11 170lbs tops) It's just that this year at that particular position we are drafting, right now, the big 5 is the big 5, then it's followed by Ritchie, Virtannen vs Ehlers Nylander etc etc. If your asking me, well, lets take the 6'3 power foward. guys like Ehlers Nylander 5'10 5'11 180 lbs offensive wingers come by so very often. It won't actually hurt. and it's not like Ehlers is actually a Patrick Kane. Not a !@#$ in chance.

Boston still made it to the Stanley cup finals, considered a successful season and 28 other teams will kill to be in the finals. Right now it's all crap shooting, since it's so hard to win the Stanley cup. One can argue the Blackhawks truly did win the Cup last year, I also voted that I hope the Canucks can assemble a team similar to Chicago's style.

In regards to the Patrick Kane comments. Is Nikolah Ehlers Patrik Kane? If he was at that level you and I wouldn't be having this discussion. This thread wouldn't even exist because he be the consensus number 1 pick. Ehlers will not be able to hold a candle to Patrick Kane. Kane was the consensuses number 1 pick. He's not even the consensuses number 6 pick.

So Boston made it to the finals and lost, and they style of game they played is praised & emulated.

The Canucks made it to the finals and lose, and everyone wants to change the style, and get away from what made us successful.

See the double standard there?

If you want us to assemble a Chicago style team, we need high end offense, I don't see a Lucic or Jamie Benn on the Hawks, but I see high end offensive players.

And where did I say Ehlers is Pat Kane?

Of course there's that risk. However I never mentioned anything about Rick Nash, and if he was actually anything like Rick Nash you and I again wouldn't be having this discussion, they don't even play the same way. Ritchie is a physical player who hits fights, and was able to lead his team in scoring, and was extremely clutch in round 1.

The reason why I want us to Draft Ritchie is of his physical play, and his fearless mentality towards the game. He's not afraid to the drop the gloves. Also the chance to draft a 6'2.5 225 pound player who hits non stop, can fight has a deadly wrist shot can run a powerplay and play offence is a very rare occasion vs drafting 6'0 offensive speed skating wingers. That's one of my main reasons why I rather have Ritchie then a player as redundant as a guy like Nikaloh Ehlers. I've already mentioned this already.

Ya, we wouldn't. Cause Ritchie would be a slam dunk top 3 pick, with #1 overall consideration. And no one would be in disagreement on taking him if he was available.

And I hope you didn't just say Ehlers is redundant for us, because I don't see anyone in our organization like him, with his upside.

If there is anything teams like LA, New York, Chicago, & Boston have proven, its that you can't have enough high level offensive players, or else you won't win. And that's the bottom line.

Nylander was my second pick due to the 'attitude problems' and lack of NA playing time. Well he has certainly sold me. He had a great combine.

Unfortunately, I dont believe he will be there at #6. I just PRAY its not Bennett who is the odd man out. Dal Colle or Draisaitl please.

If we somehow got Bennett because of strength issues , we should all be greatful. If we get him at 6th and didnt rush him into the league and baked him for another year or two, he could be a great player one day.

You do say you want him at #6. Back in March.

Remember march? A good long time before we had any idea where we would be drafting. If you want to take credit for that, then by all means.

You have never stated the Canucks would draft him once we knew where we were drafting. You still hedge around Nylander but never actually put your foot down on it.

In fact, when you finally do, you 'want Nylander long term' but your prediction is Nick Ritchie.

Mine is Ehlers. Yours was Ritchie.

I have also stated repeatedly that I thought Nylander was the best talent blah blah . The difference between us is that I dont BRAG about it later on like I knew it all along.

You didnt. You picked Ritchie. You made the double talk. Live with it.

All this arguing and gloating about who you wanted in march is kind of dumb. I can find old posts of me wanting to take Nylander as well. Doesnt mean anything. The combine obviously changed some minds.

THANK YOU.

After the finals we strayed away from what made us successful and look where we are now. We have size and have shown that we are capable of playing a physical game. What we have struggled with is scoring, especially on our PP.

If we want to be successful then we have to play like we did when we made the cup final because that's how the Canucks win.

Offensive, Quick Transition, Puck Possession, Canucks Hockey that makes you pay on the PP for trying to goon it out with us.

I am wondering if Bennett is going to fall in the draft because of not being able to do those pull-ups..?...Not because I don't think he's going to be a good player, but because of fanbase perceptions...Ryan Nugent Hopkins also had a weak undeveloped upper body (he could only do one bench press and was picked 1st overall)

Nylander is a stronger than everybody thought..I've noticed that the girly talk has stopped lately...He's 170 lbs now...I bet when he's 20-21 he will be around 195 lbs.
