[Report/Trade] Marty Brodeur to Minni

Recommended Posts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Martin Brodeur will start for the Devils against the Red Wings on Tuesday night.

And then, amazingly, that could be it for the future Hall of Famer in New Jersey.

The Devils and the Minnesota Wild have agreed to a deal that would send the legendary goalie to Minnesota, according to the New York Daily News. The lifelong Devil, who has a no-trade clause, has to approve the trade before it can be completed.

According to the newspaper, the 41-year-old wants to mind the net one last time at a Devils homeicon1.png game before moving on to the next chapter of his career.

Man is it going to be weird seeing Marty in something other than a NJD uniform, but best of luck as he plays out the rest of his career with Minnesota!

EDIT: Looks like CBS may have jumped the gun... Rich Chere ‏@Ledger_NJDevils 20m Talk that Devils have agreed to trade Brodeur to Minny. Wild deny it.

Will edit when more info comes out.

Speculation at this point it seems. I'll wait for a confirmation before believing this is true.

Brodeur can ask for a lot if he wants but I'm not as sure the Wild would want him to play another game for someone else once a trade is basically completed.

Brooks shuts it down....Wild aiming for Halak?

If Canucks flip Luongo to WSH or FLA, they should inquire about Brodeur...Most he has is another year, would be a good mentor for Lack and Lackie is unproven for long periods of time. Plus, Gillis likes signing vets to add good experience to the dressing room.
