Merely
I mean he's making the right trades, we traded Schnieder, and we got Horvat, a good strong ceter prospect we were missing. Other than that I do not question any other trade he made. He is heading to the right direction, getting younger, we did not get what we wanted for Kesler so we did not do it. What do you guys want him to do? Bring in Jagr, Vanek and push for a playoff run? Get the season over with and start a rebuild, just like Toronto did, Florida is doing, and who knows what Edmonton is doing. Look at the Avalanche. And the Sedin signings, who the hell saw that coming? They were playing great before the signing. The only thing I am pissed about is the damn NTC, other than that I would have no one else as a GM. KSniper88
the NTC made us where we are now in a circus, plus are drafting and developing under gillis is horrible too al he does is recycle the bottom 6 and did nothing for the top 6 when the timing was right all he does is make excuses about playing poorly cuz of lockout now injuries how its a process blabla
CanuckBoss
let raffi walk no return, he destroyed everyone with a offensive upside let erhoff walk no return, best pmd we had indirectly skyrocketed our PP, made plays from his d zone years later our pp drops drastically terrible player management terrible player asset managment made this team into a circus laughing stock of the league from contender to a joke of a team anything else feel free to contribute
King Heffy
He's making absolutely terrible trades. I fully support the ownership refusing to let this moron ruin the team further. I wouldn't hire Gillis to manage a Mickey D's.
TheRussianRocket.
He is. All that's wrong is he hasn't fixed the scoring and that's not his fault cause the players are underperforming. If they don't trade Kes at the draft, sign a fricken top end scorer and we'll be fine. Vanek, Moulson, Cammalleri...any one of them and we are a contender. It's scoring, SCORING. van_ws
Mike Gillis is ???? terrible at his job. Any god damn monkey can do better. At this point, I would take anyone to be our GM over him. What a clown.

Warhippy
He has far from destroyed the team with his trades. His main issue is he is thinking retroactively instead of proactively and flopping everywhere in his plans. We lost to Boston and instead of getting faster and more skilled he attempted to get bigger and meaner and failed in both aspects. We lost to LA and instead of getting larger and more skilled he then went to get smaller faster and more skilled and we got bounced to San Jose. If I want him fired it is because he cannot maintain any kind of consistent plan. He also cannot act decisively. He is far from a bad GM. He is middle of the pack. if he stuck to a plan and went with it and stopped handing out NTC's or was GM enough to ask them to waive them. He wouldn't seem so bad. canucklehead44
Don't know why there is so much blame on Mike Gillis. He took a competitive team and managed to maintain the core, switched up the coaching to account for playoff failures, and make several great moves with limited cap space (Stanton, Richardson, Santorelli). Not only that but our prospect cupboard looks incredibly full compared to this time last season. Who would have guess so many players would suck so bad? Who would have thought that Alex Burrows with top line minutes and 60% zone starts would be the least productive player in the entire NHL? One or two moves here or there would not have made the difference. This is 50% the players, 40% coach, 10% general manager in terms of responsibility for this team's crappy season. This team was the hottest in the league in December. Two months of absolutely terrible hockey to start 2014. Is it worth blowing everything up for 2 months of bad hockey? Ronalds.Kenins41
Cause Vancouver fans want to get rid of everyone that reminds them of 2011 when our franchise was at it's best AV Ehrhoff Salo Samuelson Luongo Schneider Raymond Lapierre Torres Mike Gillis Kesler Edler Bieksa Burrows Sedins They know that 2011 was a long time ago and that team if brought together would not succeed in todays NHL cause it was a fluke so they want to get rid of everything that reminds them of that painful memory of game 7. I personally don't want him gone unless we get someone like Burke(who isn't available) to replace him cause frankly there is no better replacement for him right now. etsen3
He's making bad trades. For example the Schneider trade: there's no denying that Horvat is an excellent prospect. However that doesn't mean he couldn't have got a lot more for a promising goalie with decent NHL experience. He's done a lot of good for this team, but since 2011 he seems to have fallen behind the ball. It's time to bring in a new GM who isn't too loyal to the core and is willing to trade away our vets for some youth. Gillis does recognize we need to get younger, but he doesn't seem to be moving quickly enough.

hsedin33
It has nothing to do with fans or what we want or what we think. Just look where this team is now compared to a few years ago. It ain't rocket science.
Brad Marchand
Two years ago, these were Vancouver's forwards: Daniel-Henrik-Burrows Raymond-Kesler-Booth Higgins-Pahlsson-Hansen Malhotra-Lapierre-Kassian Two years later, these are Vancouver's forwards (ignore the lines): Daniel-Henrik-Burrows Booth-Kesler-Kassian Higgins-Matthias-Hansen Sestito-Richardson-Dalpe Santorelli on IR Eight of the forwards that were with this team two years ago when they scored 8 goals in 5 games against LA are still here. Virtually no change to the core group. If anything, this is why the team has crashed so hard offensively. Not finding a suitable replacement for Ehrhoff doesn't help in that regard, either. That being said, I've been more than content with how he's built the team's defence and goaltending. This team never used to be able to develop goalies and now they can't seem to stop. The team needs to bolster their top six and hope that one or more of Horvat, Shinkaruk, and Jensen can make the jump.
