Pavel_Beer_eh
vs Dallas ... that was the most empty seats I've seen since I can remember.

Caboose
Dallas has been near the bottom in attendance since the Turco era. Its a shame, they're a good hockey team.
tortorellatheboss
Because nobody cares about hockey in the Southern states (outside of Nashville and Tampa Bay). Since Dallas is about 70% Mexican now it's not surprising, and the other 30% don't care because they only like American football, quite possibly the lamest sport in existence..(let's have fat guys block each other in tight pants)
mpass1
I bet someday they will turn it around like Chicago did...especially with the way Seguin and Benn are playing.
Pavel_Beer_eh
I always thought dallas had more fans for some reason .. that looked like a panthers preseason game lol. What a shame at the time of the year when fans should help push them into the playoffs.

The NFL is better than the NHL in all regards. They have such a high demand for their games they can fill a stadium of 60,000 with higher ticket prices than the NHL and make loads of money. The NHL struggles to fill 1/3 of that.
higgyfan
Dallas has been near the bottom in attendance since the Turco era. Its a shame, they're a good hockey team. It's ok. The sub par Canadian teams will continue to subsidize them.

FireGillis
And soccer stadiums fill up 80,000-120,000 and it's a sport most Americans don't care about Plus the NFL plays 8 home games a year. It's easy to sell out with so few games. Imagine if it was 41 games per year and I doubt every team sells out for them all.

Odjickwillkillyou
I was there and it felt like a morgue. For a team that has tons of promise and is on a roll, it is pretty sad to see. Of course, our fans were pretty quiet as well. In the past we were usually louder than the Stars fans, but when your team is struggling that is when you see the true commitment of a fan base. I also noticed a much lower attendance on our end as in the past you could see a lot of blue jerseys in the crowd. Not so much last night.
mephnick
It'll be like that here given a few years of bad hockey. People who think we have this great fanbase are too young to remember how empty the arena was during our darker days.

From an English outsider looking in, I got to tell you that NFL is quite possibly the dullest, most uninspirational 'sport' (loosely) around. I would rather sit and watch a coat of fluorescent green emulsion paint dry whilst being whipped by a prickly pear cactus than watch 4 hours of that trash! At least NHL is fast, furious and in the main, exciting! Only in the States can you make a 60 minute game last 4 hours!
