hsedin33
Pulled this off from Wikipedia, just for those who are curious, the 2011 Cup team and who's left # Nat Player Position Hand Acquired Place of birth Finals appearance Here/LTIR - 41Andrew Alberts D L 2010Minneapolis, Minnesota first Gone - 4 Keith Ballard D L 2010Baudette, Minnesota first Here - 3 Kevin Bieksa – A D R 2001 Grimsby, Ontario first Gone - 49 Alexandre Bolduc C L 2008Montreal, Quebec first Here - 14 Alexandre Burrows LW L 2005 Pincourt, Quebec first Here - 23 Alexander Edler D L 2004 Östersund, Sweden first Gone - 5 Christian Ehrhoff D L 2009 Moers, West Germany first Gone - 15 Tanner Glass LW L 2009 Regina, Saskatchewan first Here - 2 Dan Hamhuis D L 2010 Smithers, British Columbia first Here - 36 Jannik Hansen RW R 2004 Herlev, Denmark first Here - 20 Christopher Higgins LW L 2011 Smithtown, New York first Here - 17 Ryan Kesler – A C R 2003Livonia, Michigan first Gone - 40 Maxim Lapierre C R 2011 Montreal, Quebec first Gone - Roberto Luongo G L 2006Montreal, Quebec first Gone - 27 Manny Malhotra – A C L 2010 Mississauga, Ontario first Gone - 38 Victor Oreskovich RW R 2010 Whitby, Ontario first Gone - 21 Mason Raymond LW L 2005 Cochrane, Alberta first Gone - 29 Aaron Rome D L 2009 Brandon, Manitoba first Gone - 6 Sami Salo D R 2002 Turku, Finland first Gone - 26 Mikael Samuelsson RW R 2009 Mariefred, Sweden third (2008, 2009) Gone - 35 Cory Schneider G L 2004 Marblehead, Massachusetts first Here - 22 Daniel Sedin – A LW L 1999 Örnsköldsvik, Sweden first Here - 33 Henrik Sedin – C CL 1999 Örnsköldsvik, Sweden first Gone - 10 Jeff Tambellini LW L 2010 Calgary, Alberta first Here - 18 Christopher Tanev D R 2010Toronto, Ontario first Gone - 13 Raffi Torres LW L 2010 Toronto, Ontario second (2006) Only 11 of the 26 players from the cup run are still with this team. I'm not trying to make a point here, it's just interesting to see how far from that cup team we are now. Almost all of those players from 2011 are in their 30's or almost there. Also another side not, of those 11, only 2 players from that 2011 team who are still playing with us are producing and playing well, Kesler and Higgins. (imo at least) Anyways, make whatever conclusions you want from this. Pce

Baka
Getting to game 7 of the stanley cup finals isn't exactly getting spanked... It was kind of an odd 7 game series. When the Canucks lost games they lost them ugly. Losses that series... 8-1 4-0 5-2 4-0 To Lu's credit he stole them a couple games both being 1-0 shutouts. They really did spend most of the play though looking overmatched

Getting spanked is getting sweeped [Like last season against SJ] or barely winning one game [Like last-last season against LA]

Cold Hard Truth
they desperately needed a heart transplant and a big shake up instead Gillis gave them a bandaid and now were here, watching a lifeless corpse get beaten down every game . This team is pathetic, never seen a bigger group of quitters, Canucks are doomed as long as the Sedins are the first line. Management needs to be changed and a culling needs to be laid down with this core and blow it up in the offseason or you will be see droves of fans stop going to games or giving a rats ass. NuckleheadFan
there's 28 other teams that would have liked to be in Canucks spot that year. out of that roster, Ehrhoff, Schneider, and Luo were probably part of the "core" group of players traded. We should have scored a goal or two in the first 15 minutes of that period and then Rome destroyed Horton late in the period. The Bruins took over from there. Lu won us game 5. Gillis' decisions moving forward has destroyed us since
elvis15
So what you're saying is that Gillis should never have carried on with the core that Burke and Nonis built, since they couldn't win a Stanley Cup and are falling apart around us right now. That's my conclusion for you bringing up the roster of a team that we all enjoyed but couldn't win when it counted.
