AbbyNucksFan
There was a thread about this, but search is broken, so here's a new one... anyone else watch it? I recently re-watched the original (for about the 20th time) just so I could be ready, and so far I have to say I'm not disappointed.
CatsPajamas
Yea I thought it was pretty bush league. It was so heavily hyped I had to check it out. What did I get? We are small and the time we have existed is short. It could have been a two minute youtube video. I also thought the script was awful. It was so clunky and random. Talks about Jupiter for 2 minutes, "here is Saturn, the most fantastic planet in the solar system," immediately moves on to Uranus.
g_bassi13
Is it a rehash in terms of material compared to the first one? Yeah, I have the same question. I mean I loved Cosmos, and I really like Neil deGrasse Tyson, but I'd be curious about what exactly they're going to cover. I would imagine most of it will be new, but they'll cover some fundamental topics from the last series.
MANGO
IF you like this, then you will love...."The Elegant Universe" with Brian Greene. it deals with particle physics, multiple dimensions, unification, gravity, string theory and lots of other cool stuff. It is a three part series from the PBS Nova program. I highly recommend it for people who love science. I believe you can watch it directly from the PBS Nova website and also can be downloaded which of course none of us would ever do.....:-) you pretty much have to watch it 20 times...haha
MANGO
no one could ever replace Carl Sagan. Not in billions and billions of years....:-)

Just saw a couple episodes tonight. The quantum mechanics made my head explode! Wasn't overly impressed with Seth MacFarlane's Cosmos. Edit: It was "Fabric of the Cosmos" with Brian Greene that I watched and that I thought you were talking about. I haven't seen the Elegant Universe. He just doesn't present the material with as much noticeable passion as NDT or Sagan

Buddhas Hand
In a few decades they'll say the same of NdGT. I am already saying it about Professor Brian Cox , while he does not have the scientific achievments of Sagan he has the ability to explain complex theorems in way that the average person can understand, neither Sagan or Tyson can say they have been a rockstar with a number 1 hit. Any person that is interested in documentaries like these should watch Coxs wonders of the Universe , a must see IMO.
RUPERTKBD
I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. Starting from the Sun outward, they basically skipped Mercury altogether and moved through the solar system at well.....the speed of light. In fact, I thought they just blew through everything. Before I knew it, we were hearing about the Virgo Cluster. And then we spent twice as long hearing about an Italian priest who was tried for Heresy.... Biznow
It was just an OK start to the series. I do imagine it will get better when it goes more in-depth later on. It might be good that it's not too overwhelming yet, so that people who haven't watched all the other shows, and don't have a lot of knowledge on the material can get an easier introduction. It would be good to get more people interested in the cosmos, as one day if we want to survive, we're going to have to head out there somewhere. I agree with two other posters, The Elegant Universe and Wonders of the Universe are better....so far anyway. Some of the episodes of "The Universe" are ok too, but they seem to be running out of material, the last episodes about Stonehenge and the pyramids seemed cheesy, almost like they were pandering to the ancient alien type of audience. kodos
Nobody is going to replace Sagan, and the first episode was pretty bad and weirdly paced. I'll still give it a shot to see if it gets any better. Most pilots are terrible, anyways.
