Has Ryan Kesler Quit on the Canucks?

As per Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province:

"...Ryan Kesler is rarely at his locker after games and almost never there after losses. Not after regular season losses. Not after playoff losses. Not after Stanley Cup losses.

That's cool, I've always thought, the brooding centre has never been able to deal with losing.

Tonight, he looked well adjusted.

Here he is after one of the most pathetic losses in team history and he's ready to take on all media.

What gives, Kes?

I have no idea what was going on. I can only say watching him, he did not come off as brooding or pissed off.

But, I can say, after cameras turned off, he did add something within the media's earshot.

"F me. F me. What a *@#ing joke."

He nailed that...

Next is whether or not a new coach can win back Kesler's heart and convince him to stay.

It is possible.

Canucks management, if it's still around, has been pondering ways to keep Kesler after the draft. This became especially important after it was apparent at the deadline they are not likely to receive a huge offer wrapped in a bow and left at their doorstep for him.

The Canucks idea is to sell Kesler on a plan to get him a quality winger to play with.

Of course, frustrating for Canucks fans, is that they haven't been able to do that the past few years.

Who that might be and how they might get him is another story entirely.

At least they will have the cap space."

Sounds as if Kesler may no longer be emotionally invested in the team and resigned to the fact he will be moved in the off-season.

If so, this can't be a good situation moving forward.

Even if the Canucks do appease him by signing a quality winger (Vanek/Gaborik/Moulson/Cammalleri) in the off-season you have to wonder if it will be like the Roberto Luongo situation this year (keeping a disgruntled player on the roster in a key role).

Thoughts?

Looks like Botch is up to his old tricks spreading tabloid style news...

You can see the rather "I don't know what to say" dejected look on Kesler's face during his interview. Kesler plays with his heart but Torts has got to reduce his and other players on-ice time. 25 minutes is just ridiculous. No wonder that practically the entire team have no more jump left in them. This is the most embarrassing game I've seen the Canucks play ever.

How come the only guys we hear after losses are Henrik, Bieksa, Luongo (when he was here)?

Where is Alex Burrows? He's supposed to be a leader on this team. Was always available in the past. Now that he's in a massive slump, where is his accountability?

Why does Alex Edler have nothing to say? He's been here 8 years and will be here 4 more. Why does he have nothing to say?

The list is really endless but the veterans should be accountable.

P.S. That's not journalism, it's Botulism.
