A day after a disastrous loss to the New York Islanders, some fans may dream that the Vancouver Canucks will find a hero. Maybe that explains why John Tortorella has Batman on the brain.

When asked about the challenges facing new No. 1 goalie Eddie Lack, Tortorella made a comic book comparison, as Cam Tucker reports for Metro Vancouver.

“It’s Batman and Robin. It’s easy to be Robin. When you become Batman it changes a little bit and we expect some bumps in the road with Eddie,” Tortorella said. “But I’ve seen him this year handle so many different situations … that this is where we’re going.”

At least Lack, 26, is taking the rather odd comparison in stride. Then again, maybe it’s all about the cool car.

“I always want to be Batman. Just going try to do my best here and get back at it,” Lack said. “The Batmobile is pretty cool.”

A sense of humor might just be needed in this situation.

I love Lack and i have faith in him living up to his expectations. He let in some soft goals but the team in front of him was absolutely atrocious. He has heart and passion, two things DEARLY missing within the rest of this organisation.

Keep your head up bud, keep improving and growing and we will all make it. We are all Canucks.

We are all Canucks.Not.

Players are paid to be flexible and play for any team they have to.

Should see the actual interview instead of twisting around the truth.

Misleading and sensationalist title. Tortorella is not doubting Lack's ability to be a #1, as the title suggests.

Exactly. OP's tendencies are becoming evident already. Seems to like that Province style of hollow drama.

Like I said in another thread, OP seems to make controversial threads that are pretty sketchy. No offense, but it's how majority of us portray it.

Eddie is such an easy guy to get behind.

"Just going to try to do my best here and get back at it."

Definite keeper.

His mentality is perfect for a Canadian market. Lu used twitter as an outlet to deal with media and 'fan' commentary (totally fine by me), but Lack just needs to be himself. Perfect temperament for a team in need of a rock while 're-tooling' or whatever you want to call it.

NBC ProHockeyTalk which employs Jason Brough, Mike Halford, James O'Brien and others is my blog? Say what?

Don't really care. Title is misleading and sensationalist - whomever James O'Brien is - as Down by the River pointed out.

Your last thread start, likewise.
