Awesome and Unexpected End to Fight

Recommended Posts

im all for fighting. But doing it as a staged act is ridiculous. It just means nothing. Now, if two players are genuinely pissed at each other. Thats an enjoyable hockey fight.

Most hockey fights aren't random acts of anger. They have almost always been staged events by the two players. And no not is some crazy mouth breather conspiracy theory that every thing is rigged sort of way. Rather in that it's used as a tool during a game for energy or retribution but we're seeing less and less of that now.

This is actually more common that people think.

There's a clip that shows up every so often of Georges Laracque agreeing to a fight with somebody and then wishing him luck. The true heavyweights understand what a tough job they have and have a ton of respect for each other.

There are a few exceptions like Zac Rinaldo and Donald Brashear, but the majority of scrappers are more like Laracque and Parros.

I remember that one.

Just shows the mutual respect these guys have for each other.

Agreed. I think there's an understanding among all fighters that this is just what they have to do to stay in the game. In many ways, 2 fighters on separate teams have more in common that a first liner and a 4th liner on the same team.

That's a great end to a fight in which both guys landed some heavy shots
