[Proposal] Kesler to Chicago, draft

Recommended Posts

Seasons pretty much done for us once the Stars beat Calgary tonight.

To Chicago:

Kesler

2nd Round 2014

5th Round 2014

To Vancouver:

Tervainen

1st Round 2014

Draft:

Then we draft Nick Ritchie with our 1st this year. With Chicago's 2014 we draft Nikita Scherbak. 6'2 Winger that led the WHL in rookie scoring. Instantly we have a great prospect pool.

Tervainen

Ritchie

Jensen

Horvat

Shinkaruk

Scherback

Gaunce

Lain

4 reasons why this WON'T work:

1) Chi and Van rivalry, too much bad blood there

2) Chi has stated they don't want him-- repeadeatly

3) Potential cap problem for Chi w/ Kane and Toews needing resiging next year

4) They're in the Western Confrence, probably the worst reason but i doubt a gm would trade him to a rival in the same conference

Bad blood is only relevant to the fans. Players sign with rival teams all the time (Kes himself would gladly join the Hawks) and front office will make whatever move they think benefits the team. The only reason you rarely see rival trades is often because the rivals are both good teams with buyer mentality.

Conference trades also happen all the time. Vanek was traded twice in the conference this year and St. Louis was traded also. To name the big ones. Division rivals also will make trades. The Isles sent their best 2 defensemen to the Flyers. This year Oilers and Flames made a deal. Oilers and Sharks. Ducks and Flames... While teams prefer to trade out of conference a GM will always take a deal that they feel benefits the team.

With that being said I agree with you that Kes likely doesn't go to Chi as they simply don't need him and have shown vague interest. But if they had what each other wanted I don't doubt they would make a deal rivalry aside.

I would love Kesler on the Hawks but we have 2 big contracts to hand out to Toews and Kane and they could potentially get 9M+. If we could move Bickell somewhere, I would take this deal in a heartbeat. I doubt the Hawks do it though, its not in Bowman's style to trade significant futures for one player.

I wouldn't trade Kes and a 2nd and a 5th for Teravainen and a 1st. Take out the picks from our end and Chicago adds. I am looking for Saad+

Saad is 8 years younger, has more points playing on the 3rd line, and has a cap hit of $760,000 next year.

TT will be Chicago's 2nd line centre next year, on a cap hit of around $1M.

Saad is valued more than Kesler to Chicago.

If you pay attention to cap hits, you's know that Chicago isn't moving goos talent on low cap hits for a regressing forward on a $5M cap hit. That's not to say that Kesler hasn't good value, just not to Chicago. Even though Kesler the player would fit like a glove on that 2nd line.

Kesler, Schroeder to Detroit for Riley Sheahan and Mantha

I want to say that detroit has to put in their first from this year, but these are two great prospects, with Sheahan ready to play in the NHL now, let me know what you think.

I too was drooling over the Shaw, Teuvo, Leddy rumours, but if that was on the table, gillis would have done it, even if it meant taking Bickell's salary back

Or Kesler to CBJ for Wennberg, Bjorkstrand, Jenner

If I am the columbus GM, I do that in a heart beat and even add in a little sweetener - they do not give up any one of their young franchise players, they do not lose much off their roster and they are instantly a better team and probably a playoff team because the east is so weak - this gives them great depth at center - kesler - Johansen- dubinsky and to go along with Horton, Foligno, Atkinson, that right there is an excellent forward group, and we leave them with Rychel who can come in and add to that group

in any case- what we need in the kesler trade is quality not qauntity - a young centerman that cn maybe come in and develop into a good 1C/2C plus a real strong top 6 forwardprospect - that would be my asking price + something else depending if it is a western conference team

- Chicago

-leddy, shaw, teuvo

-Detroit

-Sheahan, Mantha, 2nd

-CBJ

-Jenner, Wennberg, Bjorkstrand

Are you high?

Chicago: DOESN'T WANT HIM

Detroit: Mantha is pretty much UNTOUCHABLE after the WJ's

CBJ: KESLER DOESN'T WANT TO GO THERE
