PhillipBlunt
I have been relentless on Henrik and Daniel being underwhelming this season and not being leaders. Well........Henrik stepped up in a huge way defending Torts and endorsing him as a coach. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/13/sedin-backs-tortorella-and-staff-we-love-playing-for-these-coaches/ I fully admit that Henrik deserves more respect than he is getting. He chose to vocally throw his support behind Tortorella. Fat chance John gets fired now. Nor should he. I hope somewhere Farhan Lalji is eating crow like the dirty ass jackal he is. TheRussianRocket.
Media (mostly eastern) is portraying it like Torts is the devil and has bought down all hell on the team, lel. ...WRONG. Majority players support him and know they can't score. They average 1 goal more than they do atm and we're in the playoffs. Not a big deal, and personally like we're getting younger due to this injure plagued season.

Interesting article, but pretty misleading where Gillis' comments are concerned - Gillis refused to oblige any of the predations or fishing expeditions being conducted - regarding anyone on the Canucks - players, coaches, management - taking what he said as a 'lack of vote of confidence in Tortorella' is a borderline manipulative spin that wasn't the obvious intent of Gillis. He made specific comments about gettng behind the coaching staff and each other and trying to win some hockey games. If anything, I'd take his comments more in the vein of Henrik's as opposed to feeding the kind of speculation the author is here.
SuperReverb2
Torts isn't the problem. Never has been. The "problem" starting right after the game 7 Stanley Cup loss and has been getting progressively worse every year since. Core is getting old. Needs to be revitalized. Torts is the right coach for that. The "youth" looked greet tonight agsinst Washington. Will look even better next year.
Baka
I am not saying Henrik is lying but he was asked a question and answered. If the captain throws the coach under the bus then you know someone is going to get fired or traded very soon. He gave the kind of answer you expect a captain to give. Similar with Gillis who still seemed hesitant to throw his full support behind Torts. Brad Richards lobbied for Torts before giving him the silent treatment. Torts also had the support of Gaborik and Lunqvist at one point but nether jumped to defend him after they were no longer all on the same team. As far as general captains and coaches go Mike Richards defended Laviolette before he was traded and it came out that they were never on the same page. Basically the majority of what is said in the media is BS and just business. If a player or team really had an issue the last thing they tend to do is start gossip in the media about people they work with. So while Henrik could be telling the truth he could also just be BSing. In a way his quote almost sounds sounds about putting in a system that makes them believe they can win each and every game... It's kind of like of all the seasons this is the one where you believe that? Basically I am skeptical to believe anything until after the professional boundaries come off. Bingoooo! +1, right here people^^ All about youth stepping up and playing a bigger role and part of the team moving forward. Can't rely on on the old members from here on, time to relieve some stress off them and help out. Next season, hopefully Horvat, Shinkaruk, Corrado make the team and that much better for the Nucks. Get the kids involved, it's the way to go!

He's a shoe in for the roster next season. I've been just devastated by the plummet recently, but seeing how the youth movement is playing out, things look good. I just wish Gillis had thought out the goalie situation more.
-AJ-
Henrik is C. He says what he has to say, like most C's will. How could he have said it differently to convince you that it was his legitimate feelings and not just what he had to say?

Ben Kenobi
Well - the interesting thing is that the Canucks have four 1st line / 2nd line tweenersHenrik (41) - tied for 81stDaniel (40) - tied for 85thKesler (40) - tied for 85thHiggens(38) - tied for 93rdThe line right now we are looking at is 38 and 94th place. That's about Alfredsson money at 3.5 million/year.
CatsPajamas
Well I wouldn't say that this eliminates the slight possibility that the Sedins are discontent with Tortorella and his system, but I'd think that this does eliminate the ridiculous suggestion that the Sedins are actively sabotaging him... I guess anyone off the wall enough to buy into a theory as silly as that isn't going to listen to logic or evidence anyways though...

HunterHorvatBure
How could he have said it differently to convince you that it was his legitimate feelings and not just what he had to say? We all know how well he produced under AV. Anyways, do you expect him to throw torts under the bus and create more conflict ? No, don't think so, he's a classy player and said what he needed to. Don't make me start listing every single thing torts has done wrong. "The core is getting old" give me a damn break. It doesn't explain the MASSIVE jump in underproduction by our top players.
