Nucks get a young centre, top dman prospect and a 2nd/3rd. Chose Schenn over Couturier b/c Schenn is the point producer while Couturier is the defensive specialist. Already have that in Horvat so a offensive centre would be best instead of having 2 redundant players...Schenn has a lot more flash than Sean. sign Matt Niskanen 4 years, $4.5 mill per. - 27 years of age in his prime, solid dman and a great replacement for Edler. resign Kassian 3 years $1.5 mill per, Tanev 5 years $2.5-$3 mill per, Santorelli 3 years $1.5 mill per, Archibald 2 years $800k per, Dalpe 1 year $800, Weber 2 years $800k per.Santorelli - Schenn - Kesler Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Matthias - Horvat - Kassian Richardson - Schroeder - Hansen Dalpe/Archibald Hamhuis - Tanev Niskanen - Bieksa Garrison - Corrado Stanton - Weber Lack Markstrom or veteran backup Shinkaruk, Jensen, Gaunce, Fox, Molin all playing Utica and developing. thad Posted March 15, 2014 Share Posted March 15, 2014 I think we're overpaying. Higgins is a pretty underrated consistent player on a great contract. If he's in the deal I think it should be a 1st round pick. If they really want edler then no less than B Schenn will do. Throwing in Higgins to gain the rest of that package isn't a good move for us IMO. Even through our rough patch this year Higgins has played pretty well. He's one of the last guys I'd want to get rid of if we're to make a rebound next year. So let's pretend edler is willing to waive after this season. Why not just go Edler Schenn straight up or close to it? Edler's inconsistencies and schenns age balance the deal IMO. Don't need to hit a home run package for edler but a young star in the making could be a good thing to move forward with. Win win and no one gets fleeced. If it happens to be that they're just salivating over Higgins, they can part with a first round pick for him. Yeah I don't want Schenn so bad I'm willing to cough up 2 good roster players signed below market value with term for him and a guy that may never make the show.... Would be sick to get a deal like Edler 2nd Schenn 1st Gives us 2 firsts to work with this year and hopefully at least mid range with philly. You could take a guy like Fleury with our first pick and take a chance on a Ho Sang or Ehlers with the second. (Because of that) I like it but there is no way that Corrado is going to replace Stanton. He needs at least one more full season in the AHL. Doubt that Niskanen gets less than 5.5 million. I'd see us keeping higgy and trading Hansen if anything, unless shinkaruk is completely ready. I get what your saying though, we have burrows Higgins Hansen all holding top six jobs. Kassian Jensen waiting to get it there. A major surprise in Santorelli, how do you not resign him. Also just added Matthias. MG has some tough decisions to make. Ideally the kids just take their jobs and push em into a completely stacked bottom six but it hasn't happened yet. Baka Posted March 16, 2014 Share Posted March 16, 2014 From my side I wouldn't give up that much for Edler. Higgins is irrelevant to me. His role would be greatly reduced on the Flyers roster. He won't average 19:22 a game and he won't get 232 shots in a season. Odds are even with Schenn leaving Higgins would be competing with Raffl and Laughton just to get a spot on the top 9.
