Telus Optik Problems

Recommended Posts

I've been for telus for a couple of years now and everything has been working fine until about a month ago. Then my Optik Tv would randomly lose connection several times a day and after caling Telus many times, they somewhat fixed it. It still happens but not as much. Now the problem is on internet. I should have 25 down and 5 up but I've been getting 10 down and .5 up so I decided to call again and they blamed it on a connection error so they re did the connection and I started to get 25 down and 8 up but its incredibly laggy. Its truly frustrating trying to play an FPS game when your constantly as a disadvantage and having to wait a few minutes just to load up facebook or whatever.

I've been on Shaw for years and really never had an issue other than performance sucks during peak usage times.

Gaming is almost impossible at peak times, so I've been thinking about trying Telus just for internet as a few of my buddies have it and swear by it.

So your experience makes me wonder if I should even bother trying it out.

I have shaw Internet and TV but a Telus land line phone. Recently added Telus Internet and slowly but surely every device has made its way over to the Telus network. It is just more consistent and quicker speeds. I live in a subdivision so I could either be lucky with Telus or they are just better overall. Shaw TV FTW tho

I'm on Optik too, and it's been happening to me recently also. I lose connection during the evenings sometimes, and during the day, my Internet is still technically on, but I won't be able to load websites at random times for like 3 minutes. Kind of annoying and I hope they fix it, because a lot of customers I think are having the same issue.

Its been near perfect until recently so this should not be a deciding factor for you. The last time I called they said if it gets any worse they'll send someone to bring in a new router and pvr so yeah

We are on Shaw, Whatever the biggest fastest TV/Web/Phone package they have is. Works flawlessly across all our devices but I hear it depends on where you are and how many people are smoking the same pipe ifyaknowwhatImean. When we lived in New West a few years back peak times had slowdowns, not terrible but noticeable for sure.

i switched from telus to shaw and couldnt be happier...telus blows.

Funny because i switched from Shaw to Telus and couldn't be happier because Shaw blows.

Seems to be the way it works. Certain people have luck with Shaw, others with Telus.

Telus was brutal when I had them. I've had Shaw for almost 3 years now, and have never had much of an issue.
