NewYorkYankees8771
As quoted by Eklund... "According to a source in NY, the Islanders have strong interest in Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien and are looking towards the draft to put a deal on the table. I was not told what could be offered up for such a trade, but I am looking into it."http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Source-Islanders-and-Jets-could-work-major-draft-day-deal/1/58946 If this were to happen I think this would be the best thing for both the Islanders and Jets, it dosen't take a rocket scientist to realise that it's time for Kane and the Jets to move on, and a Tavares with Kane on his wing would be absolute dangerous. As for Byfuglien, I would say it's time for him to move on, just wonder if Garth Snow is going to make a ridiculous overpayment for him just like he did for Vanek... lol
thad
Haha probably his cousin who lives in Long Island Eklund: "hey, cuz.. How's things? Better than the islanders I bet? Hehe.. they could use a trade, god I love trades" Cousin: "Yeah, I wouldn't mind if they got some better players, I don't really watch much hockey though" Eklund: Kane to Nyi e5
MJDDawg
I'd say Tavares would be going the other way in that deal. Pretty sure Eklund will say so. But he's saving that rumour for later.

Baka
they dont have a first round pick this year, they already traded it for vanek They have the option to keep that pick and sub it for the 2015 1st round pick if it's a top 10 pick (which it basically already is) Hell it's probably a top 5 pick so odds are they will retain it and give the 2015 pick. MayRayDown
I'd say Tavares would be going the other way in that deal. Pretty sure Eklund will say so. But he's saving that rumour for later. Doubt Tavares wants to go to Winnipeg after how they treated one of his fans. Kane-Tavares-Okposo would be a sick line though

Ghostsof1915
Outside of Strome and 10 first round draft picks, what could the Islanders possibly offer? By the way according to TSN.ca Wang is looking to sell his majority stake in the Islanders.
insomniac604
I think Kane is more valuable than Byf. Now if Byf were a forward that might be different.NYI needs both pieces. However, anything they offer in return would negate their new additions.I see them making a deal for one or the other. Probably Byf. They don't have a lot of pieces to trade. I imagine draft picks - and a lot of them.
terrible.dee
they dont have a first round pick this year, they already traded it for vanek God, that was stupid trade. Did they really think anyone would stay there by choice?
Baka
A 11 year old boy got taunted by drunk adults and had to hide and crumple his NYI jersey at a Winnipeg game. That sucks but I don't know if that would sway his decision on what team he would want to play for. I feel the fans can only discourage a players interest if that player or his family has had specific scary incidents with a fan base or if a fan base is notorious for harassing it's own players to an extreme degree. As far as general fan behavior goes every fan base will have a number of bad apples. Keep in mind people are still people and teams have no filter system. When you attend any hockey game or sporting event anywhere the people who are in that arena with you cheering the team along still include rapists, pedophiles, drug addicts, murderers, violent criminals, mentally ill, general douchebags, etc. You can look into any sport city and find incidents of criminal or shameful behavior. Some I can recall off the top of my head... LA fans beat an opposing fan giving him permanent brain damage and can't take care of himself. SF fan ran over a child who was a fan of the opposing team in a hit and run (think the kid was 9). Philly fan intentionally made himself vomit on an 11 year old girl at a game. New York fan ran her SUV into a crowd of opposing fans after a heated sports argument (killed 1 man and injured many more). A father tried to force his kid to like a sport/team by taking him to a game and tying the kid to the seat. Oakland fans had a shooting after a game in the parking lot. NY fan was kicked out of a game for starting a drunken fight then was arrested shortly after for pouring gas on cars in the parking lot and attempting to start a fire. Philly and NJ fan got in a fight resulting in both stabbing each other. Montreal has thrown beer bottles at opposing players. Etc. Etc. People are idiots all over I am not sure an incident with 1 individual would speak for the entire fan base. Not to mention I looked that story up and the kid he helped is also a Tavares fan and lives in Winnipeg so wouldn't that alone cancel out the evil to good ratio? xD
