Slegr
I know it's been said time and again, but size is such a BIG factor in the NHL. The Canucks have some skill, and have pockets of toughness, but they need more size. I like the fact that some of the more recent acquisitions are big bodies - Kassian, Matthias, Sestito, and Jensen. We need more size and more toughness this off-season. More BCers wouldn't hurt either.
Shinkaruk_9
Getzlaf was all over Burrows...did not look comfortable from a Canucks fan perspective...next time we meet Kassquatch better go after him.
Ghostsof1915
Despite what the pundits said. I can see why teams passed over Schroeder. He's a good guy. But in the NHL you have to be better and faster, and smarter than everyone else if you're undersized. He's built like a running back. But I can't see him doing well in the Western Conference. That's why I really hope we get Ritchie in the draft.
asian player
Virtanen seems like he could be developed into something special. He has speed, size, and skill. Anybody with 2/3 can be sick. If he pulls it together, he can do some magic even at the NHL level

Gillis wanted to prove he knew something nobody else did, but has failed.

Boudrias
It is laughable when fans equate physicality with fighting. It is a small part of what makes physical teams winners. Last night the Ducks pretty much dominated most physical battles along the boards and in front of the net. LA and the Blues are no different. Schroeder might have a NHL career yet. His injuries this year sunk his season. My point about him being dropped out of the Canuck depth chart is the likelihood that injuries will be a ongoing risk for his career and that bigger players are likely to stand up better. There are exceptions no doubt but not the norm. The more challenged the roster the less likely a smaller player can have success. Simply ask yourself whether a Brad Marchand would be as successful on a Sabres roster as a Bruins roster? Once a small player flirts with elite status opposing teams increase their attention towards him. From what I see Schroeder will not flirt with elitism. Me_
Sestito is a waste of a roster spot. Sestito has the most fights in the NHL. If Sestito wasn't with the Canucks, fans like you would call for Gillis' head for not acquiring a knucklehead. Because that's what you guys do; bitch and moan. Schroeder plays it pretty safe and so far doesn't seem to have a great skillset. But as with all players I would love to see him get another summer of training/no injuries to see how he goes. I haven't given up on him yet. He almost scored twice last night.
Henrik Kesler
Sestito is a waste of a roster spot.Yes, yes he is. Having a face puncher take a roster spot is a good way to have a terrible fourth line.
Derp...
Ability matters. If you don't have the ability to use size or skill or speed at an effective time, then your just another pylon skating around the ice. People who think that game at the highest level and can execute with precision will always come out on top. Hockey is as much a chess board as it is a gladiator ring. We should continue drafting players that have size and think the game at an elite level.
Cold Hard Truth
Sestito was one of our only forwards that showed up in the big slump when the Sedins chose coasting to Sochi instead of trying to win nhl hockey games and no show cost us a playoff berth.Sestito has at least fought for this club, that much cant be said for many of his teammates.next year he should be only brought out for the thug teams if he doesnt come into camp in the best shape of his life. DeNiro
I wouldn't pass on Ehlers if he was available to us. See Nyquist in Detroit. Same size, and has good hands and wheels. There's still something be said for blazing speed and stick handling in this league.
