The Devils have nominated Jaromir Jagr for the 2014 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Jagr, 42, has shown a dedication to the game that has allowed him to continue playing at high level when most are retired. He leads the Devils in scoring with 60 points (23 goals, 37 assists) this season. Ken Daneyko is the only Devils player to win the Masterton (1999-2000). Jagr's dedication to the game is legendary. He is often the first to arrive at the rink and usually the last to leave as he works out off the ice regularly. He credits working hard in practices to avoiding fatigue in games, which allows him to stay fresh and have an advantage over opponents late in games.

The Stars have nominated Rich Peverley for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Peverley, 31, was never drafted into the NHL and began his hockey career at the collegiate level for St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., earning his degree in economics while playing all four years for the school. On Feb. 18, 2011, he was traded to the Boston Bruins, where he would go on to be an integral member of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion team, posting 12 points (4-8=12) in 25 games during the playoff run. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward was traded to Dallas on July 4, 2013 and posted 30 points (7-23=30) in 62 games this season. On March 10, 2014, Peverley collapsed on the Stars bench after suffering a cardiac episode. He was revived at the scene by medical personnel and underwent season-ending heart surgery eight days later. He currently is rehabbing and a decision has not been made on resuming his career. Peverley has shown a dedication to hockey throughout his career, as well as perseverance and sportsmanship.

The Red Wings have nominated Daniel Alfredsson for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The 41-year old Alfredsson has played NHL hockey as long as Nathan MacKinnon and Alexsander Barkov have been alive. If that doesn't speak to perseverance and dedication, then not much does. Alfredsson follows Patrick Eaves and Tomas Holmstrom as the last two Red Wings Masterton Nominees.
