CRAZY_4_NAZZY
To Detroit: Alex Edler To Vancouver: Danny Dekeyser Tomas Jurco Detroit gets the top pairing dman they have wanted for a while to play with fellow country man Kronwall. With Bertuzzi, Samuelsson, Cleary and Quincey most likely leaving to free agency, they have enough cap room to add Edler's contract. We all know that Ken Holland has wanted Edler since they day Vancouver drafted him. I remember reading an article that Detroit had wanted Edler in the draft of 2004, but we stole him away from them. Detroit love their swedes and will make this deal to get the guy they originally wanted for a while. Finally cementing their top pairing for a while since Lidstrom and Rafalski back in 2010 The flexibility of having many winger prospects with offensive skill makes Jurco expendable. Look at their prospect pool they have Mantha, Tvrdon, Frk, Nastasiuk, Pulkkinen, and more. Also already young players in Tatar and Nyquist looking good every day in the NHL, Detroit is willing to part with Jurco. Defense prospects Detroit is also deep with puck moving skills in Almquist, Sproul, Ouellet, Jensen who are all waiting to get a sniff in the NHL, Dekeyser becomes expendable as well. However Detroit really loves Dekeyser, they are willing to lose him in the trade for a top pairing dman in Edler. Vancouver gets younger, although losing a dman in Edler, has fallen out of favour and looks for a new start and waives to go to a team where he will fit in smoothly. Dekeyser scouting report: Is a quick and agile skater who can move the puck soundly from limited Red Wing games I've seen One attribute that sets DeKeyser apart from many other collegiate defensemen is his ability to control the tempo of the game. He sees the ice really well and possesses great hockey sense. His decision-making has continually improved with quicker and smarter reads and reactions. DeKeyser possesses a powerful shot and can get shots to the net. He has great hands and moves the puck exceedingly well, too. and is not a slouch in the defensive zone either. Jurco scouting report: A dynamic scoring forward who is infamous for his highlight-reel shootout goals, Jurco is far from a one-trick pony. Displaying a willingness to drive to the net, he looks at times closer to a power forward than a pure sniper. With game-breaking ability, the question is whether the Slovakian can put it all together. His hands are incredible, but he needs to round out his game and show more consistency in his effort. a young player who has offensive instincts like no other. Who would bring much needed spunk and offensive energy to a lackluster team. Can start on the third line, but his offensive skills will bump him up for bigger minutes. D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Jensen Higgins - Kesler* - Burrows Jurco - Horvat/Matthias - Hansen Sestito - Richardson - Kassian * assuming Kesler stays Hamhuis - Tanev Dekeyser - Bieksa Stanton - Garrison Would you spring for this deal? Herberts Vasiljevs
I was ready to make a flame post if Nyquist was in the proposal but yes, I'd totally do it. However, I believe Holland said that he doesn't intend on moving Jurco.
ftmN
I don't know if I would do this from a Detroit's point of view, giving up two potentially sound players. But having said that if they don't develop into their potential I feel we would lose the trade. From a Van perspective I'd like a 3rd added, but that's just me. bd71
This is a typical Ken Holland move. Move 2 young players who are already performing well in the NHL for an older player having a horrendous season with a large, longterm deal. Yep. I'm sure this deal gets locked down before the draft. He probably feels bad and throws in another prospect as well.In case you aren't watching you may want to see that DeKeyser is having a better year than Edler in almost every way. I'm thinking if I'm Detroit I might want to see what I have rather than gamble on an expensive contract.
ibesawesomey
I'd drive him to the airport myself
JeremyCuddles
Honestly just to see him gone I'd take that deal. Lidstrom 2.0 isn't panning out here.
DrChill
Detroit wouldn't do that. Canucks should...

Alex Moran
Damn, and I thought HFBoards underrated Edler! He's having a terrible season, I understand that but in his previous 4 seasons he's played the most minutes on the team that's won the most games in the league in the span, he's also scored at a 42, 54, 49 and 41 point paces. I like Dekeyser, I see a lot of Chris Tanev like qualities but if this is all we could get in return I'd just keep Edler and hope for him to bounce back (likely with a new coach)
