TheRussianRocket.
1.) Kesler + Hansen to Philadelphia for B.Schenn, S.Morin, 1st - gives Vancouver youth in all aspects. A young NHL ready player, a much needed bluechip d prospect for the minors, and a 1st round pick; what's not to like about that? Flyers get Kes which will let them compete with the likes of Pittsburgh and Boston and also a fringe 2nd line winger/excellent 3rd liner in Hansen which will cope well with the excess centres Philly has. Vancouver also gets rid of a redundant player on the roster. 2.) Edler to Detroit for R.Sproul, T.Tatar, 2nd next year - If there's any team Edler will waive to, Detroit has to be it hands down. No one in the league denies a trade that sends them to hockeytown and Babcock and co will remould Edler into a top pair dman. Edler will also feel at home with the Euro culture implemented in Detroit making the transition much easier. Vancouver gets another much needed d prospect in Sproul who is an offensive puck moving dman and has an all around great game. A much needed LW youngster in Tatar who we lack plus desperately need and a pick in a deep draft next year. 3.) Contracts/signings and such B.Schenn @ $3 mill per for 2 years, T.Tatar @ $2.5 mill per for 3 years, Kassian @ $2 mill per for 2 years, Tanev @ $2.75 mill per for 5 years, Santorelli @ $1.5 mill per for 2 years, Schroeder @ 1 mill per for 1 year, Weber and Alberts @ $900K per for 1 year. Dalpe to the minors for depth. Meszaros/Niskanen @ $4.5 mill for 3 years. With the following moves, we have a new era of Canucks with the moving of the old core, getting younger, faster, more exciting, more promising, and fresher. Not to mention lots of cap flexibility and a new product on ice which will keep fans ecstatic for the now and future, giving real hope.Daniel ($7.00) - Henrik ($7.00) - Burrows ($4.50)Tatar ($2.50) - B.Schenn ($3.00) - Kassian ($2.00)Santorelli ($1.50) - Horvat ($.925) - Jensen ($.863)Higgins ($2.50) - Richardson ($1.15) - Matthias ($1.75)Booth ($4.25), Sestito ($.750$), Schroeder ($1.00)Hamhuis ($4.50) - Bieksa ($4.60)Meszaros/Niskanen ($4.50) - Tanev ($2.75)Garrison ($4.60) - Stanton ($.550)Weber ($.900), Alberts ($.900)Lack ($1.15)Markstrom/veteran backup ($1.20) CAP SPENT = $64.588 million CAP SPACE = $6.412 millionNoteworthy prospects in minors: prospect x (with our top 10 pick), prospect y (with Philly's 1st), Shinkaruk, Fox, S.Molin, Gaunce, Sproul, Cassels, Ericsson, Archibald, Cannata, Grenier. JE14
I like the trades but why not buy out Booth? That would give the team about 10.6 million in cap space. With that money they could get someone like Callahan (~6 million, Torts kind of player, would be good in the playoffs) and Bolland (~4 million, would be good in the playoffs). That would then give the SICK roster of: Daniel ($7.00) - Henrik ($7.00) - Kassian ($2.00) Tatar ($2.50) - B.Schenn ($3.00) - Jensen ($.863) Horvat ($.925) - Bolland ($4.00) - Callahan ($6.00)Higgins ($2.50) - Santorelli ($1.50) - Burrows ($4.50) Sestito ($.750), Richardson ($1.15) Schroeder added onto any of the above deals. Unfortunately Richardson has to be scratched but the Canucks always have injury problems so he'll slide back in quite quickly. The lineup gives the ability to give Jensen more time in the AHL (use the Detroit model for prospects) or send Horvat back to the OHL. I know the fourth line isn't fourth line players but you evenly distribute the minutes like this (this is if the game was all 5 on 5): 1st line: 17 minutes 2nd line: 14.5 minutes 3rd line: 14.5 minutes 4th line: 14 minutes The ability to roll all four lines would be amazing and devastate opponents. Disaronno
If Edler is going to Detroit, Nyquist and Mantha are coming back. A tad unrealistic, but after seeing the emergence of Gustav Nyquist I would offer Edler straight up for him. Than go get Niskanen in FA.
JeremyCuddles
We are about as likely to get Schenn as we are to get Nyquist from Detroit. Edit: And If you think we can get Nyquist, I feel sorry for you. Not talking about OP.
TheRussianRocket.
Yea, we won't be getting Nyquist lol. I'm a lifelong Wings fan alongside Nucks so I have a really good feel of Detroits players. If not Nyquist, Tatar is the next best forward youngster then comes Mantha. As for Philly, whichever user stated they are just as unlikely to give Schenn up as Detroit is Nyquist, I'm not too sold on that. Philly has a ton of centres and Couturier at the NHL right now. He might not be as talented offensively as Schenn since he is a defensive specialist kind of like Bo but with less offensive potential, they also have Laughton who like Schenn is an offensive centre who can fill the void of losing him. I doubt the Aquilini family will buyout Booth with just 1 year remaining and not to mention he's picked it up lately and made a point for the time being he shouldn't be bought out. Also, Cally and Bolland signings aren't necessary especially with the cap and term they'll tie us up with. Plus getting them wouldn't be a passing of the torch or becoming a contender. It'd be neither and that isn't good as we'd essentially remain the same.

And if Booth is picking it up but still not able to crack your roster then something is wrong there.

canucks155
1. I would do that in a heartbeat. Schenn has 3 less points than Kesler but avg's 15:47 TOI compared to Kesler's 22:03. Schenn may not be better than him right now, but he will be next year. Schenn for Kesler wouldn't work... I'm also not sure they'd give up Morin since they drafted just last year at 11th. I doubt we could trade Kesler to PHI because I don't know if they'd give up anybody we'd want in return.2. Probably would work. We would have to add in a 3rd or something.3. Literally everyone you mentioned deserves (more importantly demands) more $.

IMO, spending to the cap should happen each and every year if they're going to charge that much for tickets.

TheRussianRocket. It is, it's just a long term solution. If you know you can't win now, why keep trying? Hit the refresh button, take a few steps back, be patient, and comeback on top in a few years. There's only 1 SC winner, the rest are losers. You have to be strategic, evaluate where your team is, and take the coarse of action that you think will give the team the best chance of winning which I personally believe is a re-tool, which management also does. Get what you're saying though but you can't win the Cup every year, have to be realistic imo.
