touchable
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=448174Montreal Canadiens defenceman Douglas Murray has been suspended three games for an elbow to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mike Kostka during Tuesday night's 3-1 loss. With just over two minutes remaining in the third period, Kostka carried the puck over the blue line into the Canadiens' zone when he was met by the raised elbow of Murray. Murray was assessed a match penalty on the play.On Wednesday, the Lightning announced that Kostka was diagnosed with a concussion and have not yet set a timetable for his return. Coach Jon Cooper said that Kostka is doing well, but has no recollection of the hit.Seems like what most people expected. I would've been okay with anything from 3 to 5 games, seeing as it's his first offense despite being a very physical player.
NightHawkSniper
Doesn't even remember the hit, that's scary.
elvis15
With no history, it's in line with what they've handed out before for elbows. I still think there needs to be harsher penalties for such a reckless play - even if it's a reaction - especially when you compare it to Kassian getting 2 more regular season games (and 3 preseason) for his high stick on Gagner. Doesn't even remember the hit, that's scary. Kostka was out. Definitely a concussion but we'll see how long he's out.
poetica
Deserved suspension to say the least, though I would have thought it would have been longer. Nasty hit.
canuktravella
Should have been ten blantant intent to injure shanaban is a joke
Jägermeister
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8kLHfu-GSY Honestly, that hit reminded me of Duncan Keith on Daniel Sedin a little bit. Should have been another couple games. No place for chicken-wing elbows like that.
elvis15
Deserved suspension to say the least, though I would have thought it would have been longer. Nasty hit. Yup, we agree. Hard to pin down how much intent there was versus reaction but this is a hit that should never be a conscious part of a hockey play and should be penalized as such. Honestly, that hit reminded me of Duncan Keith on Daniel Sedin a little bit. Should have been another couple games. I'm glad you added the little bit. Keith's was about as clear as you're going to get for intent in hockey, where you can see how Murray possibly reacted (as bad a reaction as it was) rather than intentionally stuck out his elbow. Yeah, I don't think the intent was quite there with Murray, but the hit itself was very similar. Both suspensions should have been about double what they were. Lychees
I'm okay with this. No history of any dirty play or even borderline dirty play (to my knowledge). If it happens again.... well then.

I would have been happy with triple for Keith to be honest. 5 games for an obviously intentional and non-reactionary act causing injury to the head was just giving him an excuse to rest for the playoffs. 15 might have better educated him on the seriousness of what he'd done. Honestly, Keith should have gotten a lifetime ban for that hit. There's no excuse for that gutless play.
JeremyCuddles
I think suspensions should be as long as the injured players are out. Give some bonus games for serious injuries or really reckless plays.
