Alex Burrows 14
Fire Gillis. Hear me out. I am one if the few that still support Gillis. He hasn't done bad and he has made some pretty brilliant moves. Believe it or not. Now I know I probably just lost some of you for saying that but if you're still reading then hear me out. Hire someone with a vision that fits thia team. Someone like Jim Nill in Dallas who came from Detroit and is good at drafting. The fan base is going to demand a change and Gillis will be at the top of the list. Tortorella has done great in my opinion with what he has been given. When everyone was healthy in December we were awesome. Some people say his system doesn't fit here. I disagree. I think that defense is the key to success. So we keep Tortorella. We trade Hansen and a 4th for a 2nd. Hansen is on a good contract and is a great 3rd liner but we don't have room for him anymore. And we get a pick to help our rebuild. We draft Draistil. We may have to move up to get Draistil but its worth it. We don't have a #1 center for the future and he would be that guy. So if we have to move up we move our pick and a 2nd and 3rd for 3rd or 4th overall. Trade rights to Jordan Schroeder for rights to Lance Bouma and a 6th Sign Chris Butler 3 years 2 million Sign Lance Bouma 5 years 1.4million Resign Mike Santorelli 2 years 3 million Resign Zac Dalpe 3 years 900k Resign Zack Kassian 2 years 2 million Resign Chris Tanev 6 years 3.5 million Resign Yannik Weber 2 years 900k Lineup: Sedin Sedin Jensen Burrows Kesler Kassian Higgins Matthias Santorelli Booth Richardson Bouma Dalpe Sestito Hamhuis Bieksa Edler Tanev Garrison Butler Stanton Weber Lack Markstrom Pretty good depth at all positions but the best part is yet to come. Our prospects coming up: Horvat Draistil Shinakruk Fox Gaunce Cassels Subban Corrado Eriksson Meaning in the future: Shinakruk Draistil Kassian Fox Horvat Jensen Cassels Gaunce Subban Corrado Tanev Lack Markstrom Eriksson Draft defenseman in the next few drafts and were set. canucks155
No problems w/ Hansen tradeETEM IS NOT GOING TO BE TRADED. Anaheim could easily trade Etem and the Ott 1st for like the 3rd/4th pick and get Draistl, Dal Colle or Bennett.Draistl can go anywhere from 3-5. We are not going to be able to get him. We're probably going to get 8th or 9th pick. Isn't that good enough? We can get Perlini, Ritchie, Fleury or Virtanen, all great players. Obviously I'd love to get Draistl, but what would we have to give up? I would imagine a lot.
ken kaniff
I don't know how people still support Gillis. He has made bad move after bad move since the cup final. Good moves up to get us there and now he ruined the team.Good:Getting Ehrhoff, Higgins, Lapierre.Bad:Luongo-Schneider situation. Not getting enough for both goalies. So many NTC'sLuongo contract (why sign him to that if you're going to trade him 2 years later?)Ruined teams reputation (don't deny it. Players are thinking the same thing)Overall he has done more bad than good. I don't understand how you can support him. The facts speak for themselves. cripplereh
Here is what I would do FIRE MG and Torts! Get a GM in that will make changes, or get some players that can win NOW! If it was me heres what I would do after the fires! Get rid of Booth ( trade or buyout) Trade Burrows <<< takes tons of penalties let Dalpe , Alberts , Weber go or trade at draft Trade Schroeder Trade Sauve Trade Markstrom or Lack Sign either Miller or Halak, sign Hemsky or Penner or Cammalleri , then sign Gaborik, then resign Santorelli Sedin Sedin Gaborik Cammalleri, Penner or Hemsky Kesler Santorelli Higgins Matthias Kassian Sestito Richardson Hansen Jensen , Archibald , Lain extras Hamhuis Bieksa Edler Tanev Garrison Stanton Extras Corrado , Andersson Miller,Halak Lack or Markstrom If we trade Kesler make sure we get a 1st round pick, good prospect plus someone to take his place! I would like to see Dane Fox and Brendan Gaunce 9 game tryout if we trade Kesler,if not bring them up next year after a year in the AHL!

Me_
MATTHIAS - TAVARES - KASSIAN D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - JENSEN HIGGINS - BOLLAND - BURROWS SESTITO - RICHARDSON - ARCHIBALD S. WEBER - HAMHUIS GARRISON - BIEKSA TANEV - STANTON LACK MARKSTROM That's the team. Tavares, 23 years old, will cost immensely, including any prospect in the bank. But you do that one in a heart beat. Weber, 28, will also cost immensely, but that's also a price you pay. Anything Nashville wants. If the Canucks don't have what it takes, involve a third team that would have pieces Nashville desires as returns. The Canucks are then set for the next five years. If Tavares isn't available, there's always a Statsny...

Me_
what do you think a guy like Tavares would go for? Kelser, Horvat, 1st? If it's Kesler Horvat and a 1st, you take it and run. If Kesler doesn't want to go to NYI, trade him to his preferred destination while cooperating with the NYI on what they need to get the deal done. ken kaniff
Tanev isn't good?Kassian isn't good? "Two years later".Tanev is a good find. Kassian is doing well, but still not worth Hodgson. If Coho was being difficult trade him for someone of equal value not for a downgrade. Hodgson is a 1st line C, Kassian (I like him) is a 2nd line RW. Now we are looking for a future 1st line C. You can not say he has done more good than bad. Its literally impossible

ken kaniff
You do realize Hodgson isn't even a top 6 center on Buffalo.Yes he is. But if he isn't, he's doing really well on the 3rd line since he's on pace for 45pts.Last season if it was a full season he was on pace for 60pts. We have lost that trade right now. We have lost most of MG's trades.

We have lost most of MG's trades. Kassian is on pace for more points per sixty minutes. Hodgson just gets his points from the power play. Also every team has a Hodgson type player and they're easier to find. It is very hard to find a player of Kassian's caliber.

What did you expect? Crosby? Matthias and Markstrom is a terrific return for a goalie who couldn't be traded for a 2nd round pick last year. And Schneider for Horvat? Pretty damn good if Horvat reaches his potential. The only thing I didn't like about that was the fact that we could've gotten Horvat+ for him from the oilers. If Lack turns out to be just as good as lu and Schneider then Gillis is going to look like a genius. Because then he basically got Horvat Matthias and Markstrom for free and still have a great goalie.
Rush17
I think Markstrom will surprise everyone next year. I wouldn't be surprised seeing lack and Markstrom split games evenly after a season as Markstrom as backup. Kid has crazy potential and now Rollie is on the scene. IMO we hit gold for the Loungo deal! Wish we took edm's deal for sched but in 2-3 years I wouldn't be saying that lol. All worked out.

JeremyCuddles
You do realize Hodgson isn't even a top 6 center on Buffalo. Why, why would you say this? Clearly Gillis got shafted trading Daddy's boy for Kassquatch. Of course you got to bring "logic" and "understanding" to these fine forums. For shame.
